Dear Parents and Students,
Enjoy the three day May Day long weekend. Many AISC students, including your children perhaps, will be revising for IB and AP exams. Helping students have a healthy balance of sleep, exercise and breaks to support revising efforts is key. AP and IB Exams scheduled for May 2nd (a school holiday) occur as scheduled on campus.

Vision for an AISC Learner Awards: Versatile and Empathetic for April
We are proud to recognize the following 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students for embodying the Vision of an AISC Learner this year.

Versatile students adapt to changing circumstances by being resourceful, willing and able to use multiple means of meeting a challenge. A versatile student is willing to take risks and employ new strategies when encountering the unexpected. A versatile student balances commitments in a wide range of interest areas, and seeks new opportunities for learning, growth and renewal.

Empathetic students appreciate their own cultures and perspectives while respecting the values and background of others, believing each person has equal intrinsic value. Emapthetic students show a willingness to consider, include and support the values, beliefs and point of view of others. Empathetic students show understanding of the needs of others and compassion by extending help to those in need and making positive contributions to local and global communities and the environment.
Last Tuesday’s Parent Coffee: Challenge Success results and Managing Transitions
The first part of the meeting highlighted the results from the Challenge Success Survey taken by HS students February 1st. The survey looked at students’ reported experiences regarding the following areas: Health and Stress; Sleep; Academic Integrity; Engagement and Support in School; Homework/Workload; Grades; Extracurriculars; and Parent Expectations.
The second part of the meeting focused on managing Transitions. Focus on the RAFT model to support transitions and the framework of leavers, stayers and arrivers reviewed. Thank you to the parents who attended the in-person session 8:45-9:45 am. We had one attendee for the virtual evening session (who also attended the morning session!), thus there is no video.
IB exams have begun; AP exams begin May 2, 2022
Students are excused from classes (are on study leave) during their exam session and for the half day prior to the exam. Your child has access to a study leave document detailing when they are excused from classes.
Please view here a combined AP and IB exam schedule. AP exam takers need to arrive at school at 7:45 am for an 8:00 am start. IB Exam takers arrive at 8:00 am for an 8:30 am start.
While AISC does have a holiday May 2nd, AP and IB exams will be held as scheduled, on campus.
Once an AP or IB exam occurs, the class ends, and your child does not need to attend that class. This class becomes a free period–with all students continuing to attend school from 8:30-3:30.

Earth Week Book Swap
Thanks to all those that made our first ever book swap a huge success - everyone who donated books, teachers that brought their classes (some more than once!), support staff who helped us every step of the way, parents who came in on Friday and took home so many titles, and everyone who attended. We are thrilled to share that we were able to raise 29,960 rupees in support of the India Literacy Project AND find thousands of books new homes! The books that were left at the end were either packed up for next year's swap or given to our friends at Wasted for recycling or upcycling.

Repeat Announcement: Semester 2 Final Exams and Alternative Final Assessments
The schedule for semester final exams and alternative final assessments can be found here. Final exam week is Monday, May 30 - Friday, June 3. Revision week, during which students revise for the final exams or complete alternative final assessments is Tuesday, May 24 - Friday, May 27. If a student has an alternative final assessment, they do not have a final exam in that subject during final exam week.
During exam week, students should enter school at the regular time of 8:30 am. If students have only a morning exam, they can leave campus after finishing the morning exam. Students are expected to take all exams in-person.
To inform travel plans: HS students are not obligated to attend school after their last exam. Teachers will be present and available for any needs through 3:30 pm on Friday, June 3rd.
Semester 2 report cards will be available on Wednesday, June 8.
