Congratulations to the new National Honor Society members. The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization based in the United States that encourages schools to have NHS chapters on campus to recognize scholarship, leadership, character, and service in students. Further, the NHS engages in service activities both within and outside of our community throughout the year. New members are selected one time per year. Students who maintain a strong academic record (6 or higher in all courses) are invited to apply and share their experience with leadership and service. Then, a panel of faculty members considers the applications alongside feedback regarding each student’s character in order to select new members. This year the following students were chosen to join the organization:
Arjan Chakravarthy, Chloe Bridgeland, Yewon Nam, Lekhana Gogineni, Woon Ji Lee, Hee Sun Hwang, Yoobin Yoon, Ahira Varkey, Anant Bajaj, Reuben Nielsen, Trevor Bridgeland, Tarun Murugan, Joon Hyuk Song and Sangwon Kim.

Next Early Release Wednesday Coming
The next Early Release Wednesday will be on March 20th. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm unless participating in the Wellness Summit. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three sections are picking up students at the same time. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For our Middle and High School students, a hot lunch will be served. Please note that the iHub will be open to provide an air-conditioned waiting space until 2:40 pm in case drivers are delayed. Food services in the iHub will close at 1:50 pm.

A Message from the Counselors
Headlines in the news this week have put the spotlight on corrupt admissions practices by some parents on behalf of their children seeking admission to elite US universities. The AISC Counseling team would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our philosophy of the importance of finding schools that are a true fit for each individual student and maintaining integrity throughout the college application process. As part of the college consultation meeting with each 11th grader, students agree in writing, along with their parents and counselor, that they will represent themselves honestly and accurately on all applications. While the college admissions process can be stressful and competitive, we believe that it can also be an exciting time for students to reflect and learn a great deal about themselves. AISC HS Counselors are available to answer any questions you may have and to support all students with their journey at AISC and beyond.
Online Learning: Parent & Student Orientation
If you or your son/daughter plans to take a course online for the first time next year, please join us for a mandatory Online Learning Orientation at 4:15pm on Tuesday, March 19. It will take place in room 3215. For more information, reach out to Soyeon Lee at lsoyeon@aischennai.org.
Next Steps with Registration - Final Reminder
On Monday, March 18th, students will receive a “registration verification form” in their first block class. This represents the last chance for a student to change their desired courses before we build the schedule. On the 18th students are asked to do one of the following after reviewing the sheet:
- Confirm the choices remain correct by immediately signing and returning the form to the first block teacher.
- Indicate a typographical error (eg: registered for French 1 rather than French 2) by striking through the typo, writing in the correct course and immediately signing and returning the form to the first block teacher.
- Making a change to a course (eg: AP Human Geography instead of AP Economics) by striking through the course to drop, writing in the course to add, collecting any relevant signatures (parent, teacher) and returning the completed form no later than 12:30 pm on Monday, April 1st.
No changes to requests will be made after 12:30 pm on April 1st as the master schedule building process will begin. The next opportunity to make a schedule change will be in late May/early June pending space available.
Summer Programs
Please note that for the remainder of the year we will share this link to summer programs at the end the Principal’s Notes. If you have any questions about whether or not a summer program makes sense to pursue, please contact one of our counselors. Additional programs and resources will be added to this list as vendors contact us.
Sincerely,
Joelle Basnight
High School Principal
