Calendar Change
Please note that the High School Student Lifestyle Survey indicated on the community calendar for February 12th can be ignored. You may recall that earlier this year that middle and high school completed a Well Being survey as an alternative. We are still awaiting those results and will share them at our regularly scheduled April parent coffee.
Progress Update
The first progress update of the semester will take place on Friday, February 15th. At this point, teachers will reflect in PowerSchool and completed and marked assessments to date. Families should expect one or two formative or summative assessments to be reflected.

Save the Date - Feb Fling - A Message from Student Council
As part of our health education program and ongoing commitment to prevention and wellness, each year we invite a trained prevention specialist from FCD Prevention Works to join our community. FCD Prevention Works is a non-profit organization that provides substance abuse prevention education for schools. Their mission is to:
- Encourage and support the non-use of alcohol and other illegal or illicit drugs during the growing years
- Empower young people to make healthy, responsible choices regarding alcohol and other drug use
- Teach students and adults how to recognize the early warning signs of substance abuse and to intervene appropriately
- Educate students, parents, teachers, and administrators on the physiological and psychological effects of alcohol and other drugs
The prevention specialist will be meeting with students in Grades 6-12 during the week of February 25 - March 2. Their aim is to provide students with the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need to make intelligent, healthy choices about alcohol and other drug use.
The FCD prevention specialist will also present a parent workshop on Thursday, February 28th at 8:45 am in the Madras Hall. Please note that this is a change from what is currently on our school calendar (it will no longer be on Feb 26). Some of the topics the facilitator will discuss with parents include:
- Effective ways to communicate with your child about alcohol/drug use
- Up-to-date facts about current alcohol/drug use and trends
- What to say about your own experiences with alcohol and/or drug experimentation
- How to spot early warning signs of trouble and effective ways to respond
- The importance of communication among community members
This program presents a perfect opportunity for discussing alcohol and other drug-related issues with your children. Parent involvement is crucial to efforts to reduce the risks that teenagers face and in the commitment to keeping children safe. We hope to see you on February 28th. Save the Date - Feb Fling - A Message from Student Council
Students and parents, February is here and that means FEB FLING! This is an opportunity for high school clubs to provide middle and elementary students with an exciting afternoon filled with a bouncy castle, splash pad, obstacle course, sponge throw, and many more activities. We hope that all high school students will volunteer to help.
Elementary and middle school students and parents are invited to attend. Tickets in advance cost 500 INR and include lunch, a raffle ticket, and unlimited games. Tickets at the gate cost 600 INR. Additional raffle tickets will also be on sale at the event.
So mark your calendars for Saturday, February 16th from 12:00 - 4:00 pm on the field!
All proceeds go into the Student Council fund for service. This fund is available for other clubs and activities to request to support their service-related endeavors.
Robotics Competition - A Note from Ms. Geetha
On February 1st the AISC GYM was full of action! 32 participants in 11 teams designed, tinkered, created, made, tested and remodeled their designs. Then they tested and remodeled again in order to try to win the competition - popping balloons with their robots. Congratulations to Byeongju, Taeuk and Sandeep (from JS Global School) and Sunki, Yeonghun and Yaashwanth (from JS Global School) for winning first place. We also extend our thanks to Aleksander Mabry and Aumkar Renavaikar for running the competition with the REKT Club volunteer teams. Further thanks to the Robotics Administration Team (Ms. Geetha Venugopal, Roger Bodary, and Nandini Navalan) as well as to J.S. Lakshmi and Mr. Hans De Jong for supporting the team! A special thanks to Joelle Basnight, Jessica Pechhold, Ryan McFarland for extending their complete support for running another great event for the students.
Math Matters Peepul’s Conference - A Note from Ms. Kala
The Math Matters club hosted their 4th annual Peepul Conference on Saturday, February 2nd. Students ranged from grade 6 to 9 from schools around Chennai and were invited to attend the workshops on public health, leadership, and crafts skills as well as to learn about issues that are important in everyday life. Around 100 students attended the workshops and benefitted from them. Math Matters would like to thank the administration for all their support, all our AISC volunteers and staff that made this possible. The students really enjoyed giving for their peers from local schools.

Next Early Release Wednesday Coming
The next Early Release Wednesday will be on February 20th. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm unless participating in the Wellness Summit. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three sections are picking up students at the same time. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For our Middle and High School students, a hot lunch will be served. Please note that the iHub will be open to provide an air-conditioned waiting space until 2:40 pm in case drivers are delayed. Food services in the iHub will close at 1:50 pm.
SAISA Season 2 Tournaments
The Raptors are off to Amman, Jordan for girls basketball and Muscat, Oman for boys soccer while badminton and tennis are at AISC. Feel free to come to watch games through Saturday, or tune in to live streaming and results with the links below. Go Raptors!
