Please join me in
congratulating this month’s Vision honorees for Resilience!
Nate Malone -
Despite having a focused Extended Essay research question, Nate encountered
many practical and logistical challenges along the way, which hampered his
progress. This forced him to dig really deep into the subject content area and
resolve unexpected problems on a regular basis, and really tested his patience
and perseverance. Nate persisted and eventually found a way to make the
experiment work. This is what science research is all about!
Kavya Radhakrishnan -
Kavya has continued to push herself and persevere in challenging classes in
spite of potentially finding subjects very challenging and in spite of
set-backs. She comes in to get additional help and is a great self advocate for
her own learning!
Harish Srinivasan -
Harish demonstrated patience and persistence despite absences caused by
circumstances beyond his control. He remained dedicated to his learning,
communicated promptly and clearly, despite this difficult challenge.
Yumi Unoki - Yumi is an
incredibly hard working student. She is constantly working towards improving
her skills and understanding the material. Even when faced with setbacks, she
does not waiver in her effort to reach her goals. We are inspired by her diligence
and desire to improve and better herself.
Meet Sagaya Mary!
Sagaya Mary is our science
lab teaching assistant extraordinaire! She loves working with students and
supporting their needs both specific to their experimental labs and in general
with their learning. Mary attended Stella Maris College and Annamalai
University and loves the chance to always learn something new while working at
AISC. Mary is proud to be from India, loves her family (especially her
daughters Ann and Andrea) and enjoys trying new recipes in her spare time. If
Mary had a superpower it would be to communicate with dogs. She loves dogs and
would enjoy having the chance to talk with them! It is clear to us that Mary
already has a superpower… juggling lab preparations for multiple classes with
ease and a smile!

added to the parent overview of changes to expect with standards based assessment and
reporting next year. Please remain patient with the presentation tool as you
listen. When you press play the presentation will run by itself but there will
be a lag between the movement on the screen and the beginning of the
explanatory audio.

Save the Date - National History Day Celebration
On Friday, January 19th,
from 4:00 - 7:00 pm our grade 9 students will be displaying their National
History Day projects. Please join us!
First Semester Report Cards
First semester report
cards, complete with course mark, learning habits ratings and teacher comments,
will be sent home on Friday, January 19th, in print form. Between now and
January 16th teachers will be finalizing grades and comments online. Please do
ignore whatever is reflected in PowerSchool until that process has been
completed.
Should you have any
questions about your son/daughter’s progress, please first have a conversation
as a family and, then, reach out to the relevant teacher as needed.
