Meet JS Lakshmi
Ms. JS Lakshmi has worked at AISC for 6 years and has been teaching high school physics and mathematics for 11. She has her Master’s Degree in Physics and Mathematics and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications. She has done quite a bit of research in the field of Nano composite thin films focussing on optical properties and this resulted in a published papers in various Materials Science journal. She is also very interested in the Maker movement. Ms. Lakshmi loves to see the confidence students have when they realize they can solve a problem that had perplexed them and one of her proudest moments came when a student introduced her to family by saying “Ms. L is the reason I chose to study this particular subject in college and why I am so happy now.” When not teaching Ms. Lakshmi likes poetry, music and spreading awareness about the power of good education. If she could trade lives with anyone, dead or alive, for just 24 hours Ms. Lakshmi would choose Einstein. She wants to know his thought process for developing the Theory of Relativity!
World Scholar’s Cup
It’s official,Team AISC, has once again excelled at the Chennai round of WSC (World Scholar’s Cup) competition held on the school’s campus April 29-30. In addition to numerous individual and team prizes, (complete list linked here) Team 151, comprising of Reuben Neilsen, Gyanendra Sengar, Vinay Sriram, walked away with the coveted top prize. Worthy of notice is the student leadership that propelled AISC’s entrance into this year’s competition. Students activity sorth sponsorship from an advisor, formed teams, established training agendas and routines, collaborated on how best to organise and synthesise information and kept each other accountable to the team’s goals. It is without doubt a fine example of students living the mission ‘Together we inspire a love of learning’ as well as exemplifying a student learning objective as they ‘Explore new interests with curiosity and be resilient in pursuing their passions.’ Bravo, Team AISC. Bravo!
Save the Date - Final Parent Coffee
Please join us for our final HS Parent Coffee of the 2016-17 school year on April 25th at 8:45am in the BBT. Our high school counselors will debrief the high school student lifestyle survey and host a dialogue about social/emotional support strategies for high school students. Counselors will be debriefing the results with students next week.
Date Change - Repeat Announcement
The High School Theater Production recorded in the community calendar for Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 will instead be held on Thursday. April 20 and Friday, April 21. Kindly mark your calendars. More information on the play and ticket sales will be shared soon.
Senior exams will take place on May 18th and 19th. Given that there are no internal exams for AP and IB courses and that some courses end with a culminating project or portfolio, you will notice that few exams needed on these dates. The senior exam schedule can be found here.
