Please join me in congratulating our IB Art students for their amazing exhibition. Congratulations to Adrienne, Arya, Eunbin, Aline, Marie and Seoyoung! Two years of hard work certainly paid off!
Speaking of Art... Spotlight on the Art Department
The Visual Arts Department at AISC believes that all people have an innate ability and basic human need to express themselves through the arts. As a result, our focus is to help our students find their personal style and support them as they grow as artists.
Next year we are taking our student driven concept even further as we roll out a more authentic, studio based model. Students will select a core focus in 2D or 3D media, but will be encouraged to crossover between studios and attend a wide range of media/process workshops. We believe that art should not be restricted by media and therefore our students will be empowered to select media that best enables them to communicate their artistic intentions, in their personal style.
Over the next 3 weeks we will be celebrating the accomplishments of our high school artists. Please refer to the dates below and make sure that you don''t miss out on the inspiring art that is being produced by our student artists.

Thank You for Your Feedback - Student Parent Teacher Conferences
Many thanks to the families who completed the survey over the past two weeks seeking input on scheduling spring conferences and the celebration of learning. The majority of people prefered having one day of by appointment conferences in classrooms and no drop conferences in the gym. We will give that a try next spring!
The majority also asked for the Celebration of Learning to be a stand alone event not scheduled during conferences. We will adjust the calendar accordingly and see if more people attend!
Progress Update Approaching
Please note that the next Skyward Progress Update is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Thursday, April 13th. At this point teachers will do all they can to have assessments graded and uploaded so students can have a sense of their overall performance.
Should you have any questions about performance upon visiting Skyward please first discuss the courses with your student. If, after that, you have additional questions please contact the relevant teacher.
Upcoming FNO - A Message from the Committee
Students won't want to miss our final FNO event which is coming up next week Thursday, April 13. This special final FNO evening will include a Barbecue and Outdoor Games. The outdoor games will include ultimate Frisbee, capture the flag, an Amazing Race challenge, water balloon toss and more. If you plan to attend and haven't already done so, please sign up here.
As always, the committee is looking for parent contributions to help fund the BBQ dinner and chaperone the event. If you can support in any way, please complete this form.
A Message from the Poetry Month Team
This year the World Language Department in collaboration with Mlf-Renault French School, will celebrate Poetry Month in April and have extended the opportunity to everyone in our community who wish to submit their poem to poetryschool600113@gmail.com by April 10, 2017. It should be an original poem and can be written in any language, to make it accessible to all, please submit an English translations as needed. This month students are writing poems in their world languages classes, working in the target language, challenging themselves to express and shine. The week of April 17-21, 2017 student work and submitted poems from the community will be displayed in the courtyard, feel free to be part of it by bringing a poem in your pocket and sharing it. We hope you enjoy the poems blooming on our main courtyard trees!
Class of 2017 Parents - A Message from Counseling
Believe it or not, graduation is almost here! Your child is entering into the last quarter of her/his high school career. While students have been busy working hard in class, applying to university and thinking about life after high school, they are certainly feeling the transitional time they are in.
We imagine that you have your own feelings around their transition and offer the following opportunities to come together to chat about this time and how you can best support your child (and yourself!) through this milestone.
May 2 at 8:45am in Breezeway Conference Room: Counselors will host a session about navigating the logistics/details that need to be figured out when kids transition to college. Join us for a chat about how to support your child with these details.
April 11 at 8:45am in HOL: Counselors will host a dialogue about helping your child leave well and land well.
