Dear Students and Parents,
Many thanks to everyone who attended this week’s Back to School Night!  The teachers, Jason and I appreciate your support and enthusiasm!

A Big Saturday on Campus!

This Saturday will be a busy one on the AISC campus!  From 8:00 am to 1:00 pm all student council and National Honor Society members will be participating in their annual leadership retreat in the HS CIC.  From 11:30 am until 1:00 pm our IB Coordinator, Angelia Crouch, will be hosting an IB Boot Camp for the parents of IB students (attendance by students optional).  MUN will also be auditioning students for the upcoming CHEMUN conference throughout the morning and all of these activities will come to a close just in time for everyone to enjoy our annual Welcome Back Picnic (1:00 - 4:00 pm).  See you Saturday!

Student Handbook Acknowledgement Forms

At present over 50 High School Students have not submitted their handbook acknowledgement form.  Ms. Sunita has sent email reminders to parents of these students on Wednesday of this week.  If you received this email, kindly help us by reminding your son/daughter to share the handbook with you and, then, take some time to review it as a family.  The final page of the handbook should be removed, signed and returned to the High School Office. Signing this form signals to us that you, as a family, are familiar with our policies and procedures.

Food Service Update

AISC continues to work with the Taj Madras Flight Kitchen and improve the food quality and food service on campus. In order to meet the nutritional standards adopted by the school last year, all non-veg meals, veg meals and soups now include protein, vegetable, fruit and dairy. The dairy portion takes the form of milk, flavored milk or flavored yogurt.  Students who do not, or cannot, eat dairy will have the option of a juice box instead.
Each day, in both the elementary and secondary cafeterias, students will have a choice of either veg/non-veg meals and veg/non-veg soups. In addition, the secondary cafeteria will continue to feature a salad bar and the Indian veg/non-veg meal. A graphic of different meal options can be found here. The secondary cafeteria will also feature a live counter with daily specials. Those rotating specials include: poori (chicken gravy or channa masala), tacos (chicken or veg), stuffed paratha with yogurt and pickle (chicken, and cauliflower or potato or dal), wraps (chicken or veg), and dosas (chicken masala, masala or plain).
The live sandwich bar in the I-HUB, offers chicken, tuna, egg and vegetable options on different days of the week. live juice bar serves freshly squeezed fruit juices, smoothies, freezes, milk shakes and hot and cold beverages. Breakfast options include toast and eggs (boiled egg and omelette) in addition to several freshly baked items and fresh cut fruits.

Food services at AISC are always in continual improvement. Should you have questions, suggestions or concerns, please contact Food Service Manager Prakash Shanmugam (sprakash@aisch.org),  Elementary Associate Principal Lori Newman (nlori@aisch.org) or Secondary Associate Principal Jason Hicks (hjason@aisch.org). If you have not had the chance to have a meal in the iHub or Secondary Cafeteria, please join us. We would love to hear your feedback about the food at AISC.
