Dear Students and Parents,
Congratulations to Mr. Thomson and all of the students and teachers who organized and participated in the co-curricular mela this week. It was wonderful to see so many students exploring the various clubs and organizations available at AISC and signing up to follow their passions!
ES/MS CIC Saturday Reminders
We hope that everyone enjoys using the ES/MS CIC on Saturdays from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.
1) Please sign-in on clipboards when coming to the CIC on Saturdays. This will help us with supervision as well as collecting data on Saturday usage.
2) Please enjoy food and drink outside the CIC.
3) ES students must be accompanied by a parent on campus during non-school hours (ES school policy). ES students should come to the CIC on Saturdays with a parent.
4) MS and HS students should only be on campus during non-school hours when they are part of a school-organized activity or sport. Saturdays in the CIC counts as a school-organized activity. If students leave the CIC, but are not taking part in another school activity or sport, they should leave the AISC campus.
ASIAC/SAISA Parent Meeting - From Mr. Thomson
If you were not able to attend the AISAC/SAISA parent meeting that was hosted last Monday or Tuesday, don’t worry. There is an additional meeting this coming Wednesday, September 2nd from 8:45 - 10:00 am in the Hall of Light.
Common Sense Media Digital Citizenship Certification - From Mr. Crouch
Common Sense Media is by far the best source for advice, tools, and curriculum related to your questions or concerns about raising a child in the digital age. This year we continue our systematic integration of their digital citizenship curriculum throughout the school.
AISC has supported Common Sense media for many years and we are now pursuing a school certification. Many of our teachers are also working toward their own teacher certification and are co-teaching with our tech coaches in the classroom.
A popular resource that we frequently distribute is Common Sense's Family Media Agreement which is designed to help families have conversations around the different issues they may face with media and technology. This is a very useful tool and your child will be given one in the next few weeks. Please talk through it with your child, sign it, and keep it in your home for reference.
Additional resources you will find helpful include, Parent Concerns FAQs, Family Guides, and Family Tip Sheets. The last resource is very straightforward and comprehensive. There is also a useful app for phones and tablet
20/21 Learning Dialogues - September 3rd - From Ms. Welbes
As a 20 year old learning organization, we want to continue to explore trends, issues, stories, conversations, and topics that are relevant to our community. We want to look ahead to the next 20 years.
On Thursday, September 3, we will be talking about what it means to be successful in a rapidly changing world. This dialogue will be held in the Hall of Light, with doors opening at 5:00 and starting at 5:30. It will end at 7:00. Please join us.
Early Release Wednesdays - A Message from the Director of Teaching and Learning

This year we have seven Early Release Wednesdays. The first one is coming up on Wednesday, September 2nd. On Early Release Wednesdays, we will run a special schedule and school will end at 1:30 (this schedule will include lunch). Please note that on Early Release Wednesdays, there are no after school activities, clubs or sports and students are expected to be off campus immediately following dismissal. On these Wednesdays, teachers will be collaborating and learning together in order to support the work they do with your children.
As a reminder, the Early Release Wednesdays are:

World Language Book Day - Tuesday, September 1st - Repeat Announcement
Come enjoy the first ever PK-12 world language book day in the ES/MS and HS CICs on Tuesday, September 1st from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm! Browse what new language books your CICs have purchased (pleasure reading and content support), discover the books available in your language and discuss ways to increase the collection in your language. From 4:00-4:30 we will have a special presentation upstairs in the ES/MS CIC to learn more about how your language community can become involved to strengthen your language book collection.
Yearbook Photos - September 4th - Final Reminder
Yearbook photos will be taken on September 4th and 8th for High School students. 9th, 10th and 11th grade students are able to wear whatever outfit they desire within dress code. 12th grade boys are asked to wear a white shirt, tie and black trousers. 12th grade girls are asked to wear dresses or slacks/skirt with a blouse in either all black or a white top and black bottom.
