Dear Students and Parents,
We hope you have an enjoyable Indian Independence Day tomorrow! Rest up and enjoy the weekend as next week marks our first full week of school.
Yearbook Photos - Yearbook photos will be taken on September 2nd and 3rd in the Black Box Theater. All grade 9 students will take their photos during period one on September 2nd. All grade 10, 11 and 12 students are expected to make their own way to the Black Box Theater to take their photo during their free period over the two days.
Back to School Night - We hope that all parents will be able to attend the upcoming Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 19th! This is a great opportunity to get a sense of what your students experience at school. Please know that students are welcome to attend to help with translation needs.
Schedules will be available for pick up from 5:30 pm onwards in the foyer near the front gate of the school. This will be followed by a short welcome presentation at 6:00 pm in the Hall of Light (3rd floor). NHS student volunteers will be on duty to help you find your way around the campus.
Classes will begin promptly at 6:20 pm and each period will run for ten minutes. As the time for each period is brief, teachers will give only a short overview of their course, share their email contact information and demonstrate where on their Moodle page additional information can be found. Kindly remember that the purpose of this evening is for parents to learn about the courses their students take in general terms. There is simply not time for teachers to answer questions about individual students. If after the evening you should have queries related to your son or daughter, kindly email the teacher for an appointment and/or request a time for a phone conversation. Thank you in advance for your help in allowing teachers to keep to their allotted class time as it will help the evening run smoothly for all involved.
High School Parent Coffee - The first High School Coffee will take place on August 26th at 8:45 am in the Cafeteria. We will begin by showing a ten minute TED Talk by Sarah Lewis entitled “Embrace the Near Win.” The talk is in English and will have Korean subtitles. Parents wishing to watch the video in advance with subtitles in a different language are able to do so by clicking on this link, clicking the “download” button on the right side of the screen and selecting the desired subtitle language.
After viewing the video, the counselors and I will facilitate a conversation to explore how each of us defines success as individuals, in our family unit, in our own culture as well as how we, at AISC, define it in our classrooms. We hope that the video and discussion will be both stimulating and informative.
Parent Identification Cards - Parent ID cards will be available for collection from security at tables organized by section near the main entrance of the school from Monday onwards.
