 Dear Students and Parents,

Congratulations Class of 2021! We are all so proud of you and hope you enjoyed the graduation ceremony as much as we did! If you missed it, you can still watch the ceremony from the graduation webpage (as well as lots of bonus content). You can also see a highlight reel of reactions to the ceremony here.

Here are some candids from the event - such pride and joy!

Thanks for the Feedback!

Many thanks to all of the parents who completed the virtual/hybrid learning survey.

88% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the virtual learning program; 91% with the hybrid learning program. 100% of respondents indicated that their children could access additional help, support and clarification. Comments, overall, were very positive and expressed gratitude for the efforts made by the high school this academic year to meet the needs of students.

According to the comments, the main area of improvement moving forward is related to ease of navigation and access to modular and attendance information in PowerSchool. We are thrilled to share an exciting development that should address this issue directly in the fall. Schoology is replacing Unified Classroom in PowerSchool and this will allow us to make much needed changes in procedures to improve school to home communication.

In Schoology teachers can easily assign all assessments within the system, even when using third-party software like Pear deck and VoiceThread. This means that students need not leave the Schoology environment to do their work and parents can monitor submission of learning with greater ease. This will eliminate the need for individual course level trackers.

To further simplify matters, teachers will limit engagement expectations for attendance purposes to 2 - 4 assignments per module. Additional learning activities will be available in Schoology but will not be assigned through the system. At the end of each week teachers can check Schoology to determine if students are on track and report attendance accordingly yet throughout the week students and parents will have this built in “tracker” to help keep pace.

Finally, whether we begin the fall virtually or in hybrid mode, we will retain the option of students “logging in” for the full 85 minute block upon request. This allows students who may need a bit more structure to set up accountability structures with the support of their teachers.

Returning School Materials

As and when families depart Chennai, we recognize that there may be various levels of lockdown in effect. Families are welcome to drop school materials at the front gate with security whenever it is easier to move about the city or on the way to the airport. Please be sure that the materials are in a bag with the student name and grade level clearly visible.

Final Reports and Requesting School Records

Grade 12 students may view their Final semester report card in PowerSchool at any time. Electronic

versions of official records have been shared with students who have completed the check out

process.

Students in grades 9 - 11 can review their reports in PowerSchool via “quick look up” as of 4:00 pm

on June 3rd and official copies of the reports will be emailed home on June 9th. Please remember that

any family wishing to avail of Credit/No Credit for the semester must contact Mr. Malone or

Ms. Basnight (with a cc: to Sunita) by the morning of June 9th.

At present we are able to supply electronic records by request (email: spriya@aischennai.org)and electronic copies of updated transcripts and report cards will be available as of June 9th. As soon

as the lockdown eases such that Administrative Assistants can access campus, paper copies of

requested records will be prepared and left with security for pick up. Again, please coordinate your

2021/22 Student Schedules Available - Repeat Announcement

The master schedule for next year has been completed and students can see their schedule on PowerSchool. Please note that these schedules are not final. As new students join AISC the counselors will need to balance class sizes and schedules will inevitably shift.

Students who may wish to make initial changes to their schedule may contact their counselor. Please note that we do not make schedule changes to change the order of classes, pick particular teachers or be in classes with friends. The counselors will only make changes to course selections (eg: changing from one course to a different course). It may help students in requesting changes if they first access the master schedule to check for availability.
