Congratulations Grade 12 student Anya Kumar for being selected for first place in the category “You HAVE to Read this Book” for the 2021 International Student Podcast Competition sponsored by the American Community School Abu Dhabi. Her podcast “Are You Really As Open-Minded As You Think?” will be featured on this website soon!
But she is not alone! Yejune Chang, Aditya Rangarajan and Hyeonguk Lee were also recognized with an honorable mention in the category “Geek Out With Me.” Their podcast will also be featured on the website!

Media as Text - A Note from Mr. Pollman
For the ‘alternative final assessment’, Media as Text students engaged in a Project Based Learning cycle which required that they demonstrate their understanding of the principles, tools and techniques media creators use by intentionally applying them to a product that advocated for an issue they were passionate about. Topics included: Asian Hate Crimes, Mental Health of Students in Virtual School, and the Plastic Pandemic. Please enjoy .. and don’t forget to share!
2021/22 Student Schedules Available
The master schedule for next year has been completed and students can see their schedule on PowerSchool. Please note that these schedules are not final. As new students join AISC the counselors will need to balance class sizes and schedules will inevitably shift.
Students who may wish to make initial changes to their schedule may contact their counselor. Please note that we do not make schedule changes to change the order of classes, pick particular teachers or be in classes with friends. The counselors will only make changes to course selections (eg: changing from one course to a different course). It may help students in requesting changes if they first access the master schedule to check for availability.
From the School Wide Counseling Team
As our students continue their studies virtually from home, parents have lost many of the standard
measures of determining if their child is doing well. As this New York Times article puts it, “for
parents, it has become harder to assess if their teenagers are doing OK”.
Despite the challenges presented by extended time at home on screens, there are strategies that
parents can use to both assess and support their children during this time. The article points to a
number of areas to pay attention to and skills to focus on helping your child to develop.

Grade 9 - 11 Semester Exam Schedules - Repeat Announcement
Here is the updated Exam Week schedule for this semester. You will see that the India/East Asia time table is unchanged while a second time table has been added for students in Europe, North America and South America.
Mr. Malone has sent zoom invitations to students. Students will receive invites for the IST schedule unless they have indicated on this quick form that they may be traveling. Again, the travel form is not binding but it will allow us to make sure the invite for the alternative time is sent.
All exams for students in India and East Asia will begin at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm IST. Students are asked to be in the Zoom exam room 15 minutes early.
For students in Europe, North America and South America we will run one exam session a day (see schedule below). The start time is as follows:
US Pacific Time - 8:00 am
US Easter Time - 11:00 am
UK and Tunisia - 4:00 pm
Europe - 5:00 pm
Turkey - 6:00 pm
Students are asked to be in the Zoom exam room 15 minutes early.
Exam.net will be used for all traditional semester exams. Students have used this software in the past for summative assessments. Exam.net provides a lockdown browser to support academic honesty. Any students who have questions about this interface should contact Mr. Malone before May 21st.
