Dear Students and Parents,
We are so excited to welcome grade 9 and 11 students back to campus next week!
January celebrated Ethical students.
Ethical students show responsibility for their choices and consider the impact of choices on themselves, others and the environment. Ethical students act on their principles and ideals, supporting the dignity of others and themselves. Ethical students are role models for others, acting and articulating their views with respect, especially in challenging and uncomfortable situations.
Congratulations to:
Grade 9: Karan Chakravarthy. Karan is always willing to be vulnerable when he doesn't know the answer or how to go about completing a task. He admits his difficulties and asks for clarification, assuming all personal responsibility for his actions. Karan serves as a kind, patient, empathetic classmate who always upholds a very respectful presence when participating in class discussions, even when he disagrees with a viewpoint.
Grade 10: Giovanni Tronconi. Gio displays the quality of an ethical student by sticking to his beliefs regardless of what others around him are doing or saying. He does what he thinks is right. He is respectful in his interactions with others, valuing his peers for their unique contributions. His respectful attitude in class discussion and virtual meetings that make him such a role model to his peers and appreciated by his teachers.
Grade 11: Noor Cuvilliers. Noor is incredibly thoughtful and inclusive. Recently he has worked to bring new opportunities and fun into the lives of local teenage girls during a challenging time, respecting and working with health guidelines. He has been supportive and upbeat with all the school and local partners, and checks in often that his project is moving along with everyone's support.
Grade 12: Celia Malone. Celia always acts as a gentle yet forthright collaborative member class. She often serves as a role model for her classmates when she puts forth viewpoints, always taking the time to consider how her comments can impact others. Her clarity of self and respectful tone have made our class environment a positive space.
Grade 9 Orientation Schedule for Next Week
Families who choose to send their grade 9 students back to campus must complete the parent permission and health forms before orientation. They also need to complete the Parent Locker Attestation every day their child is scheduled to come to school.
Orientation is as follows for grade 9.
Mango (last names A-K): Tuesday, February 9th
Blue (last names L-Z): Friday, February 12th
Students should arrive between 8:00 - 8: 15 am and report directly to the Madras Hall. Upon completing orientation, they will attend their classes scheduled for the day.

Next week is a full five day week. The hybrid schedule is as follows:
Monday, February 8th and Tuesday, February 9th - Mango studies on campus, Blue studies virtually at home
Wednesday, February 10th - All students study virtually at home.
Thursday, February 11th and Friday, February 12th - Blue studies on campus, Mango studies virtually at home.
Senior Skip Day - February 18th
Each year, as is a tradition in many American and International Schools, the seniors choose a day to “skip” school. Normally seniors skip without warning, knowing they will face disciplinary consequences for doing so. Luckily, at AISC, our seniors are always far more responsible. Instead, they submit their skip day for pre-approval so that teachers can shift assessments accordingly. This senior class is no different and have been “approved” to take their skip day on Thursday, February 18th.
Please note that the senior skip day is not a school sponsored nor organized event. While we waive the absences for the day, families are encouraged to have conversations with their children about how they will spend their “day off.”
National Honor Society Application Period is Open
Each year our chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) invites qualified and interested students to apply for membership. NHS is an internationally recognized society which promotes leadership, service, and academic excellence. Students who become members can carry their membership with them between different international schools as well as list it on their university applications.
Students in grades 9, 10 and 11 are eligible if they have earned at least a score of 5 or higher in all of their courses in high school. The application process has been explained via email to students directly and the due date for interested students is February 24th at 4:00 pm.
A virtual information session will be hosted for students on February 10th at 11:45 am. A calendar invite will be sent to all grade 9, 10 and 11 students closer to the date.
All School Spirit Week - Sponsored by Middle School
All School Spirit week is February 22-26! Show how you live the AISC mission by demonstrating the 4 C’s throughout the week. Here are the details for each day and suggestions for how you can choose to participate.
Monday - Compassion: Random acts of kindness
Examples include:
make a snack for a family member
make a thank you card or drawing for a friend or family member
help complete a chore/task at home
Tuesday - AISC Spirit
Wear an AISC shirt, school colors or zoom background with Raptor pride!
Wednesday - Courage & Confidence Day
Share a quote or story/read a quote or story that inspires or demonstrates courage or confidence
Thursday - Compassion: Be kind to the environment
Don’t buy one time use plastic items
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Throw your trash in bins.

Friday- Creative Friday
Show your own creativity: fun hair, DIY mask, your own original background, creative clothing, or wacky make-up
