Finally,
MHC Shakti is a two-day program for girls in grades 11 or 12 that took place
last weekend at ASB. It encourages participants to develop confidence,
resilience and flexibility. Two AISC students, Celia Malone and Ahira Varkey,
participated, hearing from a variety of Indian women leaders while interacting
with high school girls from all around India. Shari Abbott participated as an
organizer and facilitator.
High School Parent Coffees - Semester One
Many
thanks to all who attended the parent coffee this week. The presentation with voice over can be found here. Once you hit play it will move forward automatically. Note that
there will be a pause between each “slide” but there is no need to click
anything to advance the presentation. Please remember you can access all
syllabi here.
The next
parent coffee will be on Tuesday, October 29th at 8:45 am in the BBT. The
counselors will take interested parents through a mock university admissions
panel for universities using a holistic review process.
Nigel will
lead our November coffee (26th) to share information about AISC’s sexuality
curriculum.
The
January parent coffee will be a combined middle and high school meeting hosted
by the representative of Freedom from Chemical Dependency.
Topics for
the coffees in February, March, and April will be shared later in the semester.
Reminder - Monday, September 2nd Holiday -
Repeat Announcement
A
reminder that classes will not be in session on Monday, September 2nd, in
observance of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. An updated annual school
calendar reflecting this change was circulated in the Head of School Notes last
week. The updated calendar is also available on our website.
Announcing Math Lab! - Repeat Announcement
Starting September 3rd,
Mr. Mano along with student tutors will be hosting a “math lab” every Tuesday
after school from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in room 3307. Math lab is open to any student
who needs some additional help or support in mathematics. Help will be
available for content from all AISC classes (IM 1, 2 and 3 as well as all AP
and IB subjects).
Next Early Release Wednesday - Repeat
Announcement
The next
Early Release Wednesday will be on September 11th. Students are expected to
depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm. For
our Middle and High School students, a hot lunch will be served. Food services
in the iHub will close at 1:50 pm. Please note that the iHub will be open to
provide an air-conditioned waiting area until 2:40 pm in case drivers are
delayed. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three
sections are picking up students at the same time.
