Dear Students and Parents,

A reminder that Monday, April 29th, is a holiday and no classes will be in session. Enjoy the long weekend!

As May 1 is Labor Day in India, the school will also be closed on Wednesday, May 1.  The campus will also remain closed for use.

Congratulations IB Diploma students! Today is their final day of school and we wish them well on their exams!

Also, April is about Empathy and the Vision for an AISC Learner!

Empathetic students appreciate their own cultures and perspectives while respecting the values and background of others, believing each person has equal intrinsic value.  Empathetic students show a willingness to consider, include and support the values, beliefs, and point of view of others.  Empathetic students show understanding of the needs of others and compassion by extending help to those in need and making positive contributions to local and global communities and the environment.

Congratulations to:

Jiwon Lee - Jiwon's modus operandi is to see how others in her proximity are doing and to process it based on her understanding of her experiences. For example, she notices when a student is being left out in subtle ways and tries to understand why that might be the case. Jiwon's inquiry process involves considering the individual's background and beliefs in the given context. In this diverse setting, Jiwon puts her values to practice by empathizing with others and offering her support in meaningful ways.

Miles Gold  - Miles' patience and excellent listening skills highlight his empathy. Regardless of how heated the debate, Mile is always willing to honor the other side of the conversation. It's not that Miles isn't passionate about his own ideas, but he goes out of his way to keep an open mind and not diminish the other student's thinking. In this way, Miles demonstrates empathy: by valuing others' views.

Anya Kumar - Anya is a supportive and understanding student and peer. She is sensitive to situations and to others around her, especially during group work and discussions. Her thoughtful and caring nature is appreciated inside and outside the classroom.

Donovan Smith - Donovan maintains compassion, perspective, and curiosity about the wellbeing of his peers and teachers. He adjusts his behavior and speech to the needs of peers and actively explores if others are being considered. He promotes inclusive dialogue in the classroom.

High School Parent Coffee

Please join the counselors and me for our final coffee of the year on Tuesday, April 30th, at 8:45 am in the BBT. The counselors will present the data from the Wellbeing survey given earlier in the year.

Progress Update Today

Please note that today represents a Progress Update. This means that faculty will have their marking up to date and in PowerSchool so families can have a sense of progress in all courses.

Final Early Release Wednesday

The next Early Release Wednesday will be on May 15th. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm unless participating in the Wellness Summit. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three sections are picking up students at the same time. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For our Middle and High School students, a hot lunch will be served. Please note that the iHub will be open to provide an air-conditioned waiting space until 2:40 pm in case drivers are delayed. Food services in the iHub will close at 1:50 pm.

Save the Date - High School Concert

The final concert of the year will take place on Friday, May 3rd at 4:30 pm. Join us!

Summer Programs

Please note that for the remainder of the year we will share this link to summer programs at the end the Principal’s Notes. If you have any questions about whether or not a summer program makes sense to pursue, please contact one of our counselors. Additional programs and resources will be added to this list as vendors contact us.

Sincerely,

Joelle Basnight
High School Principal
