Activities Mela - September 4th
A reminder that the Activities Mela will take place during assembly time on Tuesday, September 4th. This is a great time for students to learn more about clubs and service opportunities available this term.

Save the Date - September 4th Parent Coffee
The next High School Parent Coffee will take place on Tuesday, September 4th at 8:45 am in the BBT. The theme of the coffee is “time management in a standards based environment.” The High School Counselors will begin by sharing an approach that parents can use with their students to help them better manage their time in only five minutes a day. Then Ms. Basnight will explore how parents can work with their students to determine if an assessment retake or assessment reflection is most appropriate.
Meet Jud Ford
Mr. Jud, as he likes to be called, joins us this year to teach IB SL and HL Math as well as Integrated Math 2. For the last 20 years Mr. Jud taught mathematics (including IB Further Math) at a privates school in Spokane, Washington. He loves to inspire students to see mathematics as a creative and beautiful subject and is proud of the success he has achieved supporting a range of students, some of whom went on to study math and science in university and all of whom grew into responsible and wonderful world citizens. Mr. Jud is here with his wife, Lael, and has two grown children. His daughter is studying mathematical economics at Colorado College and his son is studying computer science and chemistry at Colby College. If Mr. Jud could trade places with anyone for a day, he would choose Roger Cotes. Cotes worked closely with Newton and Mr. Jud feels that time period represents a fascinating glimpse into mathematics. When not teaching, Mr. Jud and his wife can be found traveling and they can’t wait to start exploring India!
Navigating PowerSchool
The Technology Department has created this short video to help parents navigate PowerSchool to visit class pages. On the class page families will find the syllabus, unit plans, class resources and other related items.
Discover India
The Discover India trips depart in just three weeks! Hereis a list with the times that groups need to meet at the school and the times we expect them to arrive back at the school. Each trip has different equipment requirements, special forms, and other unique characteristics that have been reviewed in group meetings. Note that there is no fee for any of the trips so students should only need a small amount of money for things like food in an airport or if they have an opportunity to shop for a souvenir.
A Message from MUN Impact
The MUN program at AISC was founded fifteen years ago and has since grown to include CHEMUN, a high quality, THIMUN-affiliated conference. In order to continue increasing and improving student opportunities, we have recently adopted the MUN Impact program. Through our participation in MUN Impact, we will begin offering local outreach opportunities for AISC high school students. These opportunities will allow us to make a change in our community and promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDG that we have decided to focus on this year is SDG I: No Poverty. We will be working with local villages and low-income areas in order to improve their living conditions.
Another integral part of MUN Impact is reaching out to local schools, which are interested in having a MUN program at their school, but do not have enough resources to do so. Our task is to share our knowledge and experience of debating world issues. This will teach them the practical skills of researching, public speaking, collaboration, diplomacy, and mostly importantly, thinking with perspectives other than their own. This opportunity is best for current and past MUN members.

First Early Release Schedule Coming Wednesday - Repeat Announcement
On September 5th we will have our first Early Release Wednesday. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three sections are picking up students at the same time. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For our Middle and High School students, hot lunch will be served. Please note that the iHub will be open to provide an air-conditioned waiting space until 2:40 pm in case drivers are delayed. Food services in the iHub will close at 1:50 pm.
