Congratulations Op Smile
Club for another successful event. Here is a write up from the club about their
recent event:
Operation
Smile Club organized a successful Annual Yard Sale and fundraiser on Friday,
4th May, by the Unity Fountain, for faculty members, students, and parents.
Members of our AISC community
generously donated items from clothes and jewels to DVDs and water bottles.
There was a lot of enthusiasm among the buyers to get the stuff on display. As
a result, we were able to earn 22,000 rupees. This amount will be used to make
surgery gowns and smile bags for children with cleft palates during the mission
trips. The left over items were donated to an organization called “Thuli” which
will distribute the wares to the needy. The books were donated to a local
library. It was definitely a meaningful experience for the club members.
Operation Smile Organization would like to thank everyone who contributed to
this event by donating your wares.
In other news, one of our academic personalized learning students, Jihye, successfully passed the Diplôme d'Etudes
en Langue Française (DELF) A2 and B1 tests. The A2 test requires students to
demonstrate competency of basic use in social interactions, while B1 requires
students to show independent language use. Both tests are comprehensive,
requiring mastery of reading, writing,
speaking and listening tests. Jihye self studied for both exams inspired by her
passion for the language. Congratulations Jihye!
Important Dates from the CIC - A Note from
Peter Jacobson
Please
note that on Monday, May 21, the CIC will begin to inventory our high
collection of books and need your help. If you have an item checked out,
please return it by the end of that week (May 25).
End of Year Check Out and Documents - Repeat
Announcement
Please
note that students in grade 9 - 11 can begin the annual check out process as
early as May 28th. To complete the check out form students must return all
library books, textbooks, and sports or tech materials borrowed during the
year. Without a complete check out form we cannot release report cards or
records.
Report
cards will be available as of June 6th, both electronically and on paper (by
request). Students transitioning from AISC to another school can collect all
necessary records on the 6th as well.
Seniors
will receive their documents on May 25th at graduation practice provided they
have completed the check out form. As an aside, completing the check out
process is required for participation in the graduation ceremony.

collected from the High School Office.
What to Expect in Late May - Repeat Announcement
Students in grades 9 - 11
should be aware of the following as the school year comes to a close.
May 21: Final day of high
school after school activities
May 21 - 25:
Alternative final assessments
May 22 - 25: Written
exam review. No new material delivered. No coursework based
summative assessments.
May 25: Last school
monitored study session (4 - 6 pm); no additional make-up
assessments or re-takes available beyond this date.
May 28: Abbreviated
schedule with all 8 classes; farewell assembly; yearbook distribution
May 29: Written exams begin
During written exams
students need only be on campus when an exam is in session. AISC will be an “open
campus” for students and they can come and go as needed. If you would not like
your son/daughter to leave campus without your permission, please alert the
office.
Students remaining on
campus to study during exam week are expected to respect the need for revision.
The library will be a place for silent revision while small groups can study
collaboratively in the iHub or HS Commons. Students found not to be using their
time wisely or who are disrupting the study of others will be asked to leave
campus and their parents will be notified.
Mandatory Online Learning Information Session - A Message from the
Online Coordinator - Repeat Announcement
If your son/daughter plans
to take an online course during the 2017/18 school we ask you to attend an
orientation session on Thursday May 17th in the BBT, 3:45-4:15. The
purpose of this session is to discuss the expectations for online learning and
ways that parents might support their son/daughter in their learning. Online
learning is a unique experience that comes with both rewards and challenges.
It's important for us to discuss not just the rewards but understand strategies
for overcoming challenges. We'll begin our session with a couple of current
online learner sharing their experience.
