Dear Students and Parents,

Three cheers for all of the High School student volunteers that made Feb Fling a success! HS service clubs and the HS Student Council, supported by dozens of HS student and staff volunteers, raised 185,000 rupees or nearly 3000 USD to support AISC HS service club efforts and expenses.

And congratulations to all of the students who performed in Cabaret!

More photos from both events can be found in the AISC Gallery!

Congratulations as well to those students who were successfully appointed to MUN and CHEMUN leadership positions after an extensive interview process!

Semester Two Student Parent Teacher Conferences - Appointment Link Live

This semester we will run one full day of conferences by appointment from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 14th in teacher classrooms. Appointments are ten minutes in length. The link to schedule an appointment with teachers is available here.

Next Early Release Wednesday - Repeat Announcement

A quick reminder that Wednesday, March 7th, will be our next Early Release Wednesday. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three sections are picking up students at the same time. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For our Middle and High School students, hot lunch will be served.

At the request of the student advisory forum, the iHub will remain open until 2:30 pm as an air conditioned place for high school students to wait for drivers. Please note that food service will continue to close at 2:10 pm.

Student to Teacher Feedback Survey - Coming Soon - Repeat Announcement

On March 8th and 9th students will have the opportunity to give their teachers feedback via an anonymous survey. The first ten minutes of each class period on these dates will be dedicated to the process. As always, the schedule is arranged such that students will not complete the survey in the presence of the teacher they are giving feedback to.

Teachers will receive the feedback right after Spring Break and will share, in broad strokes, their takeaways with their classes.

Student Parent Teacher Conferences Next Fall - Your Input Needed

My hunch is that more families will want to meet with teachers after the first standards based report is published in October. Thus, after consulting with members of the faculty and representative parents, I am strongly leaning toward providing more opportunities for conferencing in the first semester. Official progress reports will be sent home on Friday, October 26th, and conferences will take place shortly after the Diwali holiday to coincide with our CHEMUN conference, an event already disruptive to our class schedule.  The schedule I am considering is as follows:

Thursday, November 8th
8:00 am - 2:00 pm  - By appointment conferences in classrooms (preference given to CHEMUN delegates)
2:00 - 4:00 pm - Drop in conferences in the gym

Friday, November 9th (CHEMUN conference)
8:00 am - 4:00 pm - By appointment conferences in classrooms

Should you have any feedback, kindly email me at hsprincipal@aischennai.org. I am especially interested in feedback regarding the necessity of additional appointment slots as well as the balance of scheduled time between by appointment and drop in conferences.
