Congratulations to Advika, Jiwon, Amelia, Kavya, Katie, Sessy and Prahalad for participating in a Career Practicum experience over fall break. Half worked at the Crowne Plaza and the other half at Chennai Plastic Surgery!
Please join me in congratulating Nivetha Kumar for being selected to perform at AMIS Honor Choir. Shreeja Kannan has also been selected as an alternate. Selection is highly competitive and we are very proud of her accomplishment!

Mid-Semester Progress Reports Available Today - MAP Scores Included
Mid-semester progress reports will be made available online and on paper as of 3:45 pm today. If you need help navigating PowerSchool please click here. Kindly review the document with your child and, then, raise additional questions, concerns or celebrations with teachers during the upcoming Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences.
MAP scores will be included in the progress reports going home today. A cover letter explaining MAP testing can be found here.
Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our first semester student-parent-teacher conferences will take place on Wednesday, November 1st (3:45 - 6:00 pm) and Friday, November 3rd (8:00 am - 5:00 pm). Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with their children.
The Wednesday conferences will take place in the gymnasium in an arena style format. This style of conference is best for parents who want a “drop in” style conference to meet briefly for informal progress discussions. The Friday conferences, run in classrooms, are by appointment and are best suited for conversations that families may wish to have in a more confidential conversation.
Semester One Exam Schedule - A Note from Mr. Malone
A reminder that the last nine days of the semester, December 11 - 21, is dedicated to a period of revision for and completion final assessments in all classes. From December 11th until the 14th students will be engaged in one of two activities during class time: completing alternative cumulative assessments or revising for their paper/pen two hour final examination. Students know in which classes they will have alternative assessments and in which classes they will have written finals. The same information is reflected on this exam schedule. The formal exam period will begin on Friday, December 15th with a farewell assembly and exam study period followed by an afternoon session of examinations. The remaining exams will take place through the whole of the following week with conflict examinations scheduled on Thursday, December 21st.
As you make your winter travel plans please keep in mind the examination schedule as AISC does not give examinations early. Students unable to complete their examinations before the winter break due to early travel plans will be required to complete alternative forms of the examinations before beginning classes in January.
Upcoming Parent Coffee - Social Media and Teens- A Message from the Counselors
Join us for October's High School Parent Coffee: Let's CHAT about Social Media, with Director of Technology and Innovation, Sherriden Masters. This will be an interactive dialogue about social media use and challenges. Sherriden will facilitate and Josiah/Susannah will be present to respond to relevant questions and support activities. The coffee will take place on Tuesday, October 31st from 8:45 - 9:45 am, in the BBT.
Introducing Jennifer Hanna!
Jennifer is new to AISC this year as an EAL co-teacher. Before AISC she worked at AIS Saigon, Mont Kiara (Kuala Lumpur) and AS Madrid. She has been practicing yoga and meditation for 25 years and is a Reiki practitioner. As a former Peace Corps volunteer, Jennifer had direct experience with language immersion and, so, feels she really understands what it is like to learn something new in a non-native language. Jennifer is passionate about evolving to be the best person possible and spends her free time raising her adopted son, playing tennis or dancing. If she could trade places with one person, dead or alive for a day it would be Albert Einstein. She really wants to grasp the concepts of quantum physics and to learn how to apply them to her life today.
A Note from Counseling - Korean University Information Testing
During Discovery India week, Ms. Basnight and Mr. Laposky had an opportunity to travel to Korea to meet with AISC alumni and also visit Korean universities. We came away with new insights and information about program offerings, the application process, and admission requirements at Korean universities, as well as a greater understanding of the Korean culture. Mr. Laposky will provide an overview of the trip during the KPA meeting on January 23rd from 2:30 to 3:30. This meeting will also include course registration tips, so it will be beneficial for parents of younger students (8th, 9th, and 10th grade) as well. One of our findings was that Korean universities have many tremendous opportunities for non-Korean students as well, so all parents are invited to attend! We hope to see you there!
High School Theater Production - A Message from Mr. Welbes - Repeat Announcement
Truffaldino just wanted a sandwich. When Federigo, his boss, has him work through lunch, Truffaldino secretly takes a second job with Florindo to see if he can't get a meal out of him.
Pretty soon, he is juggling letters from both masters, trying to run errands in two different directions, and hoping neither boss runs into the other. Meanwhile Federigo has broken up the engagement between Silvio and Claudio, Silvio has vowed to kill him, and Florindo, who just arrived in Venice looking for his lost love—Federigo's sister—is completely confused as he killed Federigo two weeks earlier!
There's a lot going on...
HS Theatre presents Servant to Two Masters, a classic Italian slapstick farce by Carlo Goldoni. There will be three performances: 7pm on Thursday and Friday, November 2nd and 3rd, with a matinee performance at 3pm on Saturday, November 4th. Tickets go on sale for Rs. 100 mornings in the main entrance breezeway after Fall Break. Seating for each showing is limited to two-hundred audience members, so reserve your seats early!
Save the Date - High School Celebration of Learning - Repeat Announcement
At the request of parents last year our first Celebration of Learning will run as a stand alone event on Friday, November 17th from 3:45 - 5:00 pm. What is a Celebration of Learning? It is a learning fair in which students from different classes highlight the work they are doing in school by hosting interactive learning booths. Please to stop in to visit with out students!
