Dear Students and Parents,
Last week we hosted the National Robotics Competition. The event allowed students to follow their passions and engage in assembling, instructing, preparing their bots to beat the others. The winners were the teams with the highest points in all three rounds. The first round was navigating the robot through the maze evading the police and passing through various obstacles. The second round robots were made write the letters on the paper. The final round was a sumo fight.

Ethical students show responsibility for their choices and consider the impact of choices on themselves, others and the environment. Ethical students act on their principles and ideals, supporting the dignity of others and themselves. Ethical students are role models for others, acting and articulating their views with respect, especially in challenging and uncomfortable situations.
Here are the honorees along with the information shared by faculty during nomination:
Jannick Frampton - Jannick is a young man who lives by his principles and truly cares about doing the right thing as well as taking responsibility for any and all of his personal choices. He is the first to admit if he has made an error and do all that he can to make better choices in the future. Jannick bases his decisions on his values, is a young man with integrity and lives an honorable life.
Kavya Gopinath - Kavya is highly ethical. Her words and actions demonstrate a commitment to a righteous world, and she articulates her perspective with clarity and passion.
Junwon Choi - Junwon hold himself to the highest standards. Period.
Anjana Ganesh - Anjana stands up for females globally by proudly declaring herself a feminist. She takes pride in her identity and shows through quiet strength and determination that she stands for herself and her community.

Early Release Wednesday Coming
On February 8th, we will have our next Early Release Wednesday. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For Elementary School students, the lunch routine will not change. For our Middle and High School students, hot lunch will be served.
Skyward Update Approaching
Teachers are working to have their grade books up to date by 4:00 pm on Friday, February 10th as that date marks our first Skyward update of the semester. Should you have any questions or concerns after viewing the grade books please speak with your child first and, then, if more clarification is needed please reach out to the relevant teacher.

Feb Fling - Save the Date!
The next HS Fun Night Out will be held next Friday, February 10. It will be a Board Game Night 6:30-9:30pm in the FAC Cafeteria. Many of your favorite games will be available... Jenga, Bang, Taboo, Twister, even Bingo and many more. 12 games in total. Come join in the fun. Significant snacks will be served and prizes awarded. Sign up here for another "Fun Night Out!"

Feb Fling - Save the Date!
The high school will host its annual Feb Fling fun fair for elementary and middle school students on Saturday, February 11th from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. Student council respectfully requests that all high school student volunteer to help with a booth for at least one shift. This event is not only serves to provide an activity for AISC’s younger students but serves as the only fundraiser of the year for all of our service clubs!
The ticket price is 400 rps (500 rps if purchased at the door) and both students and parents will be able to participate in the various booths and eat lunch included in their ticket price. Activities will include a water bottle flip, splash and slide, obstacle course, MS pool party and lots more! Delicious food and great raffle prizes will also be available. Save the date and stay tuned for further updates!
A Message from the Counselors for the Class of 2018 Students & Parents
Please join the High School Counselors for Junior Class College Night on Monday, February 13th at 6:00pm in the Cafeteria. This is an important event for Juniors to officially kick-off the college application process. The presentation will not be country specific. It will outline
steps that students should take to be prepared for their college applications next year regardless of their destination. There will be a focus on best ways to build a college list. Ms. Larsen and Ms. McGlamery hope to see all members of the Class of 2018 and their parents on this important evening!
High School Coffee - Follow Up Information
Many thanks to all of the parents who attended our High School Coffee. The topic was course registration for next year. Here are some important items to make note of:
The updated curriculum guide for 17/18 is available now on Moodle (High School page, directly under the 16/17 guide). In the guide you can read about all of our new courses and access the curriculum maps to help guide selection. The guide also lists prerequisites for each course. Whether or not a student meets the prerequisite will be determined by his or her first semester grade. Should he/she not make the prerequisite, he/she may not register for the course. Instead, if the student earns the prerequisite grade in semester two, he/she can request a transfer to the course pending space available.
Students in grades 9 - 11 will receive their course registration forms at the end of an informational assembly on February 7th. Over the following days teachers will use the start of their class periods to help guide student selection. All registration forms are due (with parent signature) no later than 4:00 pm on February 17th.
Submitted requests will be entered into our database and, then, students will have a chance to meet with counselors about their course selections should they desire. All aspiring IB diploma or online learning classes will be required to attend a meeting with their counselor and Mr. Malone.
Course verification forms will be circulated on March 22nd and students who have changed their minds regarding course selections will have the chance to make changes on this form. All verification forms are due by 4:00 pm on March 27th. After this date no changes to requests will be accepted.
Once the 17/18 master schedule is complete, students will receive a tentative schedule for next year. Students will, once again, have the opportunity to change their schedule in the final week of school and, then again, in the fall. That said, we expect students to choose wisely in February and March so that we are able to build the best possible schedule that meets the needs of all students. Please help this process by having discussions at home about registration and reaching out to counselors with any questions you may have.
SAISA Art - A Note from Mr. Ed
AISC is excited to host the SAISA Art Festival this weekend. Students from the SAISA region will be able to visit artists in their studios as well as interact with them during workshops on our campus. Students will be producing personal and collaborative art pieces as they explore artist books, temple sculptures, indigo dying and sculptural assemblage. Do stop in to see the action on Friday and Saturday in the FAC art rooms and foyer. The culminating exhibition will be on Saturday from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in the FAC foyer.
SAISA Soccer - A Note from Mr. Thomson - Repeat Announcement
The 2017 SAISA Boys Soccer Tournament has begun. We hope that you will come out and support all of the visiting teams as well as our own AISC Raptors.
