Dear Students and Parents,

Please join me in congratulating the following students for being recognized as Resilient!

Resilient students demonstrate ongoing commitment to their learning endeavors.  These students practice persistence and patience in all situations, learning from successes and failures in the positive pursuit of their objectives, goals and dreams.  Resilient students set and adhere to their goals, seek and integrate feedback and keep their eyes on the prize in all situations, especially when they are challenging or uncomfortable.

JungHyun Park -  Johnny is one of the most resilient people at school!  He responds to feedback by asking clarifying questions to more fully understand the demands of the task. He works relentlessly to improve, dedicating an enormous amount of time to redoing tasks simply to improve his skills and understanding. When he believes his questions are not of importance to the whole class, he seeks out help outside of class.
Jakob Knudsen - Jakob embodies persistence and patience. Perseveres through all, learns from mistakes, enjoys successes. Jakob uses what he learns and takes nothing for granted.
Kangmin Kim  - Although he is an extremely quiet English Language Learner, he integrates feedback, pushes forward and has proven to himself that he can be successful. He takes advantage of the help that is offered and patiently practices until he achieves mastery.
SeungHyeon Woo  - SeungHyeon is an English Language Learner with a "can do" attitude. He has a strong desire to learn the language and has demonstrated great effort on his History Day project for Social Studies. We are impressed by his drive to learn and improve.

On Wednesday our Performing Arts Club gave an informal concert in the BBT!

HS Fun Night Out-  A Message from the Organizing Committee

Our last FNO was a Movie Night. The evening started off cool and windy as the students came to watch the movies with some comfortable blankets and pillows. They had a quiet and relaxing time as they watched the show. Attached are some photos.

Our next FNO is scheduled for Friday, February 10. In the coming month we'll also have a survey for the students to get input on our final FNO in April.

Parent Coffee Next Week!

Please join us for our next HS Parent Coffee on Tuesday, January 31st at 8:45am in the BBT to learn about Course Registration for 2017-18. Counselors will share information about the upcoming course registration process and Mr. Malone will share new course offerings for next school year.

SAT Test Preparation Course Fair - Repeat Announcement

Earlier this year the Student Advisory Forum requested that the school host a fair to help connect them to SAT preparation courses offered in the city.  To that end, we have organized an informational fair on Tuesday, January 31st from 9:00 - 10:15 am in the main courtyard. This will be an opportunity for parents and students alike to meet with organizations offering preparation courses in the area. Please note that AISC does not endorse any of these programs.  We are hosting the fair to make connecting with such services more convenient for community members.

IB and AP Registration Information Session - Repeat Announcement

Following the parent coffee and the SAT preparation course fair, Mr. Malone will offer a focussed session on our IB and AP programs to aide in the registration process. The session will begin at 10:00 am in the BBT with the aim to inform but not overwhelm.  Mr. Malone will explain the basics of the programs to help you better navigate the Curriculum Guide when making registration decisions with your children. This session is especially helpful for grade 10 parents though all are welcome to attend. General clarifying questions are encouraged while individual questions will be answered in the upcoming individual one-on-one sessions for all grade 10 students and their families expressing interest in the programs during registration.

SAISA Soccer - A Note from Mr. Thomson
