April 29th - 1D Day
A quick reminder that we will have class on Friday, April 29th. We will follow a 1D day schedule.
Progress Update Today
Teachers have updated their online grade books in preparation for today’s “progress update.” Please consult Skyward after 4:00 pm to see the most updated marks. As and when questions arise, please first speak with your son or daughter as they are in the best position to explain their current assignments. If more information is needed, kindly reach out to the teacher at your convenience.
SAISA Tournaments - Support our Athletes
This week we will be hosting the 2016 SAISA Track & Field Meet here at AISC. We have 159 visiting athletes and a total of 189 athletes from 7 International Schools in SAISA participating this year. These schools include ASB (Bombay), AISD (Dhaka), OSC (Sri Lanka), KAS (Pakistan), AISD (Bangladesh),LS (Nepal) and AISC. This will be a really exciting Meet and we are looking forward to hosting this great event. Here is the live stream link:
Please come out and support all of our Raptors and visiting Track & Field athletes.
aischennai.org Migration - A Note from Mr. Crouch
Next Thursday all students and teachers will be migrated over to our new domain for Google Apps. We are shedding @aisch.org and adopting @aischennai.org for all of our digital tools. The links to our website and skyward will change along with student email addresses. The change is largely seamless for users, however, some external accounts such as Managebac and Naviance will retain the @aisch.org login for the next month before we switch those over as well. For a comprehensive analysis of the different tools see this document.
Study Leave for IB and AP Exams - Repeat Announcement
Non IB Diploma students taking IB and AP exams in May can avail of study leave to revise and complete their examinations. There is no need to complete a form to avail of this leave but students will need to check in and out of the office when leaving campus.
Students are excused for the morning or afternoon before their examination as well as the morning or afternoon of their examination. As an exception to this system, no study leave will be granted on Friday afternoons for Monday examinations.
Here is an example of how study leave works. If a student has an IB or AP exam on Tuesday afternoon, s/he is excused from Tuesday morning to revise. Similarly, if a student has a Tuesday morning exam, s/he is excused from Monday afternoon to revise.
Any questions about the scheduling of study leave should be raised to Mr. Hicks, Ms. Basnight or Ms. Crouch.
Please note that students choosing to remain on campus during study leave are expected to behave properly and use their time wisely. Students found to not be studying during provided leave time will be required to go to class.
Final Parent Coffee Tuesday
We hope to see you on Tuesday (26th) at 8:45 am in the BBT for our final parent coffee. The counselors and I will present the student lifestyle survey results.
Mindfulness for Moms - First Session Coming Up
Ms. McGlamery will lead our first session on April 28th in the BBT. The remain sessions (May 12th and 19th) will be in the SHED. These sessions will be experiential in nature and will allow attendees to cultivate their own practice while offering the exercises to their children as well. Moms from all divisions are welcome to attend. Dads, of course, are welcome too!
Attention Parents of Class of 2016 - A Note from the Counseling Department -
Final Reminder
As college acceptances begin to roll in and decisions are made, it's important to look ahead to ensure that the transition to college is a successful one. Join Ms. McGlamery and Ms. Kay Clarke (parent of an AISC graduate/current college freshman) for a workshop for parents to discuss and prepare for this big change. The workshop is called: Leaving the Nest: Supporting Kids through the College Transition and it will take place on Friday, April 29th at 8:30 am in the Hall of Light.
