Dear Students and Parents,
SAISA Hosting - A Note From Ron Thomson
In just a two weeks time, we will be hosting the 2016 SAISA Soccer and Tennis Tournament. We need your help in finding homes for our visiting athletes from ASB, AISD, LS, TAISM and OSC. We have 100 boys and 8 girls to house from Wednesday Feb. 3rd through Sunday Feb. 7th.
Please reply to our housing director Ms. Sally Victor at vsally@aisch.org if you can help us out. Full details are available from Ms. Sally in the Activities & Athletics office.
Food Service Update
Free Lunch for Parents! Come join us in the FAC Cafeteria on February 1, from 11:30-1:00, to sample the student menu. Choices include salad, soups, Asian, India and continental meals all offered in both veg and non-veg. Parents will be asked to complete a short survey after tasting the menu items.
Prepackaged snacks are now sorted by nutritional value. We are happy to announce that the iHub and both cafeterias have three broad categories of packaged snacks, sorted by nutritional content. Students will be able to identify snacks using colored labels representing the total calories from fat in each snack:
- Blue= 15% or fewer total calories from fat
- Orange= 15%-30% of total calories from fat
- Grey= 30% or more total calories from fat
Please take some time to discuss this new system with your child. Reference posters will be placed in the iHub and both cafeterias to guide children in their snack selection, and they will be hearing about it in other ways too.
Fresh breads are now available in the iHub and ES cafeteria, as a choice for both sandwiches and take away. New varieties include tuscan bread, focaccia, bagel, multigrain, baguette, french loaf, oatmeal, panini, kalonji, and more. Please stop by and pick up a loaf for dinner.
Food services at AISC are always looking for ways to improve. Should you have questions, suggestions or concerns, please contact Food Service Manager Prakash Shanmugam (sprakash@aisch.org), Elementary Associate Principal Lori Newman (nlori@aisch.org) or Secondary Associate Principal Jason Hicks (hjason@aisch.org). If you have not had the chance to have a meal in the IHub or Main Cafeteria, please join us. We would love to hear your feedback about the food at AISC.
