Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome back from Diwali break!  We hope that everyone had a restful time and that students enjoyed returning to school to experience something different - Discover Day! Discover India trips begin tomorrow!  Safe travels to all.  During the trips your point of contact at school is Andrew Hoover if concerns or questions arise.

Juniors Begin the University Planning Process!

As students (specifically juniors) begin navigating the process of testing for university admission, there are some changes to the options this year. In order to better help students understand their options and the redesigned SAT, we shared THIS link with them. We hope you also find it useful!

Discover India Departure/Arrivals

Discover India Trips will depart on beginning on Friday, November 13th.  Please note that students should plan to be at the school at least 15 minutes prior to the bus departure times.  Staff on each trip may set the gathering time even earlier.  The return times are estimated and will depend on the actual arrival time of flights and trains.  The full schedule of flights is available here.  Please note that all students must travel with the group, including on the return bus to the school.

Students are only expected to return to class on Monday, November 23rd regardless of their return date/time.  The exception to this is Photographing Varanasi.  Students on this trip are excused from school on November 19th but are expected on campus from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm on Friday, November 20th, to prepare their photo exhibition.

Save the Date! High School Parent Coffee

The next High School Parent Coffee will take place on Tuesday, November 24th at 8:45 am in the BBT.  Susannah McGlamery and I will share with parents some of the work we have been doing with students regarding mindfulness and parents will have the opportunity to participate in some mindfulness practice of their own.

A Note from SAGE

Students, parents and faculty are encouraged to join SAGE for the second addition of #REELTALK, where they will be screening the movie Tomboy, a 2011 French film. The film explores the dynamics of youth and gender fluidity, exploring the emotion and tribulations of childhood and societal expectations. Food and drinks will be provided. After the movie, join SAGE members for a discussion of the movie and the themes it depicted.
#ReelTalk will be held on December 3rd at 6 PM onwards. If students are planning on attending, they should please fill out this Google form so we have an accurate count of students! Students are encouraged to talk with their parents about this film before confirming attendance as this is a NR-rated movie. If you DO NOT want your child to attend the screening, please inform SAGE advisor, Ms. McGlamery, via email. (Student form here: SAGE #REELTALK Attendance Form)
