Congratulations to the cast and crew of 1001 Arabian Nights! Local playwright and actor Nandini Krishnan wrote the following review of the performance:
Friday was spent at the fantastic theatre at American International School, where I had the privilege of watching an unbelievably professional version of the Arabian Nights. The ticket is only Rs 200, and the show was far better than most I've seen by adults on the Madras stage. I forgot for the most bit that the actors were school kids. Excellent comic timing. The production quality was stunning. Gorgeous sets and mesmerizing backdrops. The play is about everything, from war to the Quran to the Baghdadi tales we love to- The Dress. The school must be proud of its kids and of Shawn, who has teased out the best in his students. There's a final performance tomorrow, at 6 pm. And when I, I who rarely leave my home for Alliance Francaise which is 3 minutes away, say it is worth the drive, you KNOW it's worth the drive. Super show!
The ECO CLUB is happy to report that on on March 8th, they collaborated with the organization “Namma Beach Namma Chennai” in a beach clean-up. As an incentive to encourage people to trash and collect waste on the beach, we partnered with the local ice cream vendors such as Heritage Ice Cream to provide a free ice cream to each child, in exchange of a bag filled with trash. This activity aimed to educate the local community about the impact of the environment being polluted and the role that we, the citizens, play in cleaning our beaches. This collaboration between “Namma Beach Namma Chennai” and the ice cream vendors intended to advocate eco-friendly behaviors so that people comprehend the need to trash their waste in designated areas instead of throwing it around the beach. Furthermore, the ECO CLUB hopes this initiative will advocate for the practice of throwing trash in designated areas in the long-term and not just during beach clean-ups. As a result of the beach clean up, we gave 406 free ice creams - meaning there 406 bags of garbage collected!

Save the Date - IB/AP Art Show Opening Monday at 5:00 pm
Virtual Drill Day - Wednesday!
A reminder that there will be no classes on campus on Wednesday, March 25th, as it is our virtual drill day. Students have been briefed in assemblies as well as in their classes about what to expect on that day. Here are some important points to keep in mind.
- School hours are as normal - 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
- We will follow a B day schedule (blocks 5, 6, 7 & 8)
- Students will receive an email at 8:30 am announcing that school is open. They should log into Moodle and check their assignments for all of their B day classes. They must sign into Moodle as a student, not a guest.
- Students can work at their own pace. Teachers will hold “office hours” during the regularly scheduled time for each block but will also be available for help via email between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm.
- If there are any issues with home internet, please call the High School office and we will prepare paper assignments for pick up.

We currently are preparing for our upcoming SAISA Boys Basketball Tournament running from April 23 through April 25, 2015.
We need your help in housing all of our visiting athletes for this tournament.

Student Council Spring Fest and Holi Celebration
The annual Spring Fest will take place on Friday, March 27th. Students will attend shortened classes and then will compete in various activities for the remainder of the day. Students chose the theme of “Game of Thrones” this year and, as such, the four “houses” represent different ruling families in the popular TV show. At the end of Spring Fest students interested in throwing colors for Holi can meet on the field from 3:15 - 4:00 pm.
Kathryn Claire Returns!
AISC welcomes singer-songwriter, Kathryn Claire as our Spring 2015 Artist in Residence! After a successful residency last year, Kathryn will return for two weeks (April 13 - 24) of teaching and performance. Part of a new generation of traditionally-inspired musicians, Kathryn’s guitar and fiddle-playing exhibit a technical grace which is matched only by her truly captivating voice and her rare ability to move seamlessly across genres. She will be working in elementary, middle, and high school music classes and will conduct after school song-writing workshops with MS/HS students.
Beginning April 13th, Kathryn’s residency will culminate in a Friday@5 concert in association with R.I.S.E. on the 24th of April. Her charismatic presence and infectious smile have made her a favorite at venues and festivals around the world- and we are thrilled to welcome her back to our campus.
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found items will be displayed on tables on Thursday, 26th March and Friday, March 27th in the main entrance. Please stop by to see if any of the items belong to your child(ren). Those items not claimed by Friday, 27th March will be donated to local orphanages.
Summer Opportunities for Students
The counselors continue to maintain and add to their blog with summer opportunities for students. Families who are interested in participating in summer programs should check out the Counselor's Blog on the HS Counseling Moodle page. There is a page dedicated to summer enrichment programs which the counselors are updating as new information comes to them. If you are aware of programs that you'd like to share publicly, please email information to Ms. McGlamery or Ms. Larsen.
