Greetings from Bahrain where I am attending the NESA Winter Training Institute on academic assessment practices with a group of 15 educators from AISC!
Congratulations to Sanjana Kolisetty and Jeewoo Son for their efforts to support a local school, Seva Samajam, over the winter break by teaching their student computer skills.
Yearbook Photos - Final Make Up Dates
The yearbook photographer will be on campus on January 27th and 28th to take photographs of any students who missed the opportunity to take their photo last fall. Ms. Sunita will send students reminders.
Semester Two - Extracurricular Activities
With the new semester underway it is not too late for students to get involved in the considerable number of extracurricular activities we offer on campus. While a comprehensive list of all clubs and sports can be found on the school’s Activities and Athletics website, below represents a list of clubs and sports students are still able to join between now and the end of the year.

Service: Operation Smile, Interact, Jump Start and Design for Life

Student Lifestyle Survey
AMIS Middle School Honor Band - Housing Needed February 11-15
This week the counselors are conducting an anonymous student lifestyle survey with all students. This will allow us to get some baseline data on a number of lifestyle issues ranging from alcohol use to stress levels to how much sleep students get. The survey uses some of the questions from the US Center for Disease Control Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance survey that is administered every other year in the United States. We have also added some additional questions relevant to our own student body. We will share the results of this survey at the February parent coffee.
AMIS Middle School Honor Band - Housing Needed February 11-15
In just 3 weeks from now, AISC will be hosting the AMIS Asian Middle School Honor Band Festival. We are very excited about hosting and are looking forward to putting on a great event. Probably one of the most challenging aspects of putting on an event this size is finding housing for our 91 visiting band students.
AISC has a history of being excellent hosts and we’d like to enhance our reputation by hosting these students to the best of our ability. You do not have to have children in the High School or Middle School to host a student. Often the younger children love having a big sister/brother visit them. In an effort to make housing a little easier for you, AISC will provide transportation for your athletes if you are housing 3 or more.

HS Parent Coffee - January 27th
The next High School Parent Coffee will be on Tuesday, January 27th at 8:45 am in the cafeteria. The counselors will explain the registration process for next academic year, share with you the new courses that we will have on offer as well as give an overview of the IB and AP programs. Interested parents are invited to remain after the coffee to meet with Ms. Crouch as she explains the IB program in greater detail. While parents of seniors are welcome to attend, the information is most relevant for parents of grade 8 - 11. Ms. Crouch will also give the same information at 6:00 pm that evening for parents unable to attend the coffee.
Visiting Author Offers Class to High School Students
The Elementary and Middle School are hosting a children’s book author, Lauren Stringer, the week of February 9th. Ms. Stringer will address all High School students at our assembly on the 10th and is offering an after school workshop “From Drawing to Words” for all interested students on February 12th, from 3:45 - 4:45 pm in the Black Box Theater.
