Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break. It was a good time for all of us to pause before we begin the last quarter of the school year and start our preparations for the year-end celebrations. Time flies at this time of year, and we will soon be fully engaged in exams and celebrations and winding up the school year. Be sure to stay tuned to “Upcoming Events” to stay abreast of all that is happening in these busy next weeks.

Report cards –Report cards were given to the students after school today. Student and parent access to Skyward report cards and gradebooks will resume today as well.

Academic Honors – Students who attain high levels of academic achievement are recognized each quarter by being included on the Honor Roll. A weighted grade point average is used to measure this achievement.  A weighted scale adds 0.33 grade point for each IB or AP course. Student who earn a weighted grade point average between 3.00 and 3.66 earn a place on the Honor Roll. Students who earn a weighted GPA of 3.67 or better are accorded High Honors. The Honor Roll can be viewed by clicking on the link in the sidebar. Congratulations to our many outstanding students!

School on April 26 - Please note that the high school will be in session and classes will be held on Friday, April 26. This is a day for middle school and elementary school parent conferences, but high school classes will still meet. The good news - the Student Council is organizing a Spring Fest for high school students on that day.

Yearbook orders start Monday – Orders for the 2013 AISC Yearbook can be placed starting on Monday, April 15. The cost is US $50. This year we will be using an online ordering system that will allow you to choose additional options for such as "Hear the Year", a news summary of the year in photos, a plastic cover or photo pockets.  Just click on the link below. Tickets may be purchased in the office beginning Wednesday April 17th. The production is an ensemble piece which tells the story of the Mahabharata, the world’s longest epic and one of India’s oldest stories. It is a collaboration between student actors and technicians, the music and art departments, local sculptors, painters, and classical musicians, parents, a guest director from the United States, the AISC Community Choir, and the AISC Bollywood Dance Troupe. Join us for the first full production of the theatre department!

High School Parent Coffee – Our next High School Parent coffee has been rescheduled to May 8 due to a conflict with the Annual General Meeting of the AISC Association. At the Parent Coffee, Mrs. Callaway will discuss our plans for a comprehensive student well-being program for next year. I hope you will join us for that meeting.

IB and AP Exams – IB and AP mock exams began this week. They are designed to give our students a taste of actual exam conditions. These will be followed by the actual exams that take place from May 2 through May 24. It’s a busy time with much going on. Be sure to check the information from the IB and AP Coordinators that is posted each week at IB Diploma Program and Advanced Placement. There is also valuable information on the IB and AP Moodle pages at IB Diploma Program and Advanced Placement Program.

Departing students – Each year some of our students leave the school. Records from AISC are usually required by the next school. However, it takes us some time to prepare these records. If you will be leaving the school, please contact us as soon as possible so we can prepare the necessary documents to make your transition as smooth as possible. Final report cards and transcripts will be available for 12th Grade students by Friday, May 31. Final report cards and transcripts will be available for 9th, 10th and 11th grade students by Friday, June 15.

Have a great weekend.
