Dear Parents,

It was good to get back to school this week and be surrounded once again by the energy and enthusiasm of our students and faculty. Just a few weeks into the school year and the place is alive with activity on many fronts, all building toward a richer learning environment for the students.

It was very exciting to attend the Student Council meeting on Wednesday and listen to the students as they discussed ways to address the morning traffic problem with Mr. Hoover and Mr. Arora. They have set their sights high this year, focusing on some of the larger issues facing the school. Grappling with these issues will give them authentic opportunities to learn about the challenges facing leaders and how to organize themselves to find solutions to those challenges.

Skyward access - Parents of High School students will now be able to view information in the school's student information system, known as Skyward. This includes information on student attendance, grades and report cards. You can also use the database to contact your child's teachers by email and receive daily updates on your child's attendance. More detailed information on accessing Skyward can be found by clicking the link in the sidebar. This information will also be posted on the High School Moodle page.

Skyward also includes the information the school has on file regarding your address, telephone numbers, email address and your child's health information. Please check this information and contact the Admissions Office should any changes be required.

Moodle access – The school’s learning management system, Moodle, has much information regarding the academic and co-curricular programs in the High School. Parents can access the Moodle pages by pasting the following link into your browser, or by opening the “Quick Links” menu on the school web page and selecting Moodle. To login, select “Guest access”. On the next page you will be asked for a password. For this you should use “raptors12”.

Drug Abuse Prevention Specialists on campus - AISC has invited counselors from Freedom from Chemical Dependency, a well-known health consultancy in the international school world, to provide alcohol and other drug education for our community the week of September 18-21. They will be meet with our 9th and 11th grade students several times during the week. Our goal is to have FCD visit us every school year, which will allow them to meet with all students at least twice wile they are in High School.

We believe that drug abuse prevention is a community issue and encourage parental involvement. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, September 20 at 9:00 a.m.  At this meeting you will have an opportunity to learn what the FCD counselors are  discussing with your children and share your questions and insights.

You can learn more about FCD at www.fcd.org.

Don't forget to check the links to the right to catch up on more important information from the High School.

Have a restful and enjoyable weekend.
