Dear Parents,
We are coming into the home stretch of the year, a
time when we bring the academic program to a close, assess our students for the
learning that they have done throughout the year and celebrate their
accomplishments.
Last night we honored our outstanding athletes at the Varsity Awards Ceremony. There is a
long list of athletes who demonstrated not only excellent physical skills but
also the values of good sportsmanship and dedication to continued self-improvement
that the AISC community holds dear. The full list of awards can be seen in the
Athletics Director’s notes this week (in the sidebar). Of particular note are
the following award recipients:

Mrs. Davenport also presented the Spirit Award to the
Adityam Subramaniam, De Zutter, Hoover, Raju and Sriharan, families for their
remarkable support for the athletics programs this year. Our tournaments could
not have been successful without their help and the help of everyone who hosted
visiting athletes and helped out with the tournaments.
A very special thanks goes out to our Athletic
Director, Elizabeth Davenport, for her tireless efforts to ensure that our
athletes have every opportunity to learn and grow in an atmosphere of good
competition and excellent sportsmanship. It was one of the best years ever for AISC sports, and she deserves much of the credit for making it happen.
At an Awards Assembly
on Friday we will celebrate the accomplishments of our students in the other
areas of school life, including academics, student government, Model United
Nations and community service. We will also hold our inaugural inductions to
the National Honor Society at the assembly.
The High School
Prom will take place next Saturday, May 26, at the Asiana Hotel in the
evening. This is an opportunity for the underclassmen to recognize the Seniors
for their many contributions to the life of the school and to wish them well in
the years to come. It is always great to see the students dressed formally, and
the Student Council has worked hard to make it a memorable event for all of the
students.
A note on After-Prom
parties – It is not uncommon for students to organize events at which they
can continue to celebrate the end of the school after the Prom is over. Parents
should note that these parties are not
sanctioned by the school nor does the school provide any supervision. While
these parties can be wholesome opportunities for the students socialize, very
often there are alcohol and possibly other drugs present and no adult
supervision. In the interest of keeping your child safe, if your child is
planning on attending one of these parties please take the time to find out
where he or she will be, whether responsible adults will be present and whether
alcohol will be present. It is always a good idea to have clear expectations for when she or he will be home.
A Note from
the Nurse - Each year, returning students
are required to present evidence of a physical examination in the previous
calendar year as well as evidence that they are up to date with their
immunizations. The following information is required:

Two forms are used for this purpose: the Students
Annual Health Form and the Physical Examination Form. These forms will be
distributed to students on Friday, May 25.
These forms must be presented to the school nurse
along with immunization records and evidence of TB screening at the beginning
of the new school year in August. Please do not return these forms prior to
that time.
The annual 7th Grade Yard Sale is coming on Friday, May 25th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in the main courtyard. Bring any donations to Ms. Sonia at the main reception. Proceeds go to Child Haven, a home for destitute children and elderly women.

Don’t forget to order your Yearbook! I have seen an advance copy, and it is fantastic. Only 500
were ordered and almost 400 have been sold already. Don’t be left out! Orders
can be placed at the Finance Office. Remember to keep your receipt to claim
your Yearbook.
