Friday 25 March 2022

 Dear Parents and Students,

We are back into the swing of things after a rejuvenating Spring Break, and looking forward to Progress Reports next week, Student-Parent-Teacher conferences on April 4th, and our Celebration of Learning, also on April 4th.

Raptor Safe updates

Please make sure to review Mr. Ryan McFarland’s Raptor Safe update in the Head of School’s newsletter to review “Project Get Back” changes. Recent changes are summarized here:

  • Panbio/Rapid Antigen are not required at this time.

  • In-person club/activities meetings are in-person, on campus.

  • The gym and Raptor’s Den are open during lunch and before and after school when supervision is available.

  • Organized team sports are available before and after school. Look for opportunities in the HS Daily Bulletin. Open to all HS students.

  • Parent conferences (April 4) will be in person, with a virtual option.

We look forward to getting back more opportunities, including in-person NHS induction (April 1), Celebration of Learning (April 4), the IB Art Exhibition opening (April 5th) and Cabaret (April 8, all parents welcome to reserve a ticket) As always, thank you for being RaptorSafe! And parents - remember to upload your proof of vaccination via the link in the next section.

Visiting Campus – Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences

As you know, we are looking forward to having a greater parent presence on campus in the coming weeks.  We continue to develop our systems to streamline entry to campus for staff, students, and parents.

Please understand that by external directive, vaccinations are required of adults on campus – faculty, staff, and visitors. We also recognize that vaccination is an extremely effective tool in protecting the health of community members and preventing spread to those unable to vaccinate or at increased risk.

If you are planning to attend Parent Conferences on campus, take a few minutes to complete this form with parent vaccination information and a copy of the certificate. Virtual Conferences will also be an option for parents who cannot attend in-person.

  • Prior to your conferences, expect to receive a health screening form, which will be submitted at the entrance of the school at the time of your conferences.

  • Based on parent feedback, if you are not vaccinated and wish to attend Parent Conferences, please contact Mr. Ryan McFarland (mryan@aischennai.org) for exemption information, and be prepared to present a recent negative RT-PCR test to enter campus.

Updated Announcement: Course Request and Registration for 2022-2023

Course Verification Forms due March 29

Course request verification forms, where students are asked to confirm their course requests, were shared on March 22.  When students received this printout of their course requests for 2022-23, they:

  • Noted all requests are correct, sign the form, return it to their Crew leader immediately.

  • Noted that there is an error, correct it, sign the form and return it to their Crew leader immediately.

  • If there were changes to be made, students took the form home, discussed changes with you and their counselor, and when any changes are completed, students need to have the form signed by you, sign the form themselves and return it to their counselor. Please make sure your child has returned their course request verification form.

Progress Reports available Wednesday, March 30 at 2:30 pm

Semester 2 Progress reports will be emailed to you on Wednesday afternoon, March 30.  Progress Reports are a snapshot of student learning habits and academic achievement as of spring break, the mid-point of Semester 2.  Students receive comments from teachers in each subject. We invite you to use progress reports to have a conversation with your child about their progress, and to avail of the opportunity to meet with your child’s teachers at the upcoming Student-Parent- Teacher Conferences.

Note: Schoology Mastery grade view and Powerschool grade view are not accessible from Sunday, March 20 until Wednesday, March 30 at 2:30, to allow teachers to assign achievement strands and an overall mark, give learning habit feedback and write and finalize comments.

AISC Celebrates Well Week Next Week!

We are very excited about celebrating our communities' wellbeing in person at school. Some of the initiatives included a whole school walkathon, to mindfulness and wearing our favorite cultural or nationality outfit. We encourage you to have a conversation at home about how your family might celebrate wellbeing next week as well, maybe having a tech free dinner together or going for a walk. Please help us by reminding your child to wear athletic shoes on Monday and dress in their cultural attire on Wednesday- so they can get their photo taken at one of the fun photo booths.  Thank you--the AISC Wellbeing Council

Repeat Announcement: HS/MS Cabaret, Friday, April 8th

Cabaret, our student body’s annual showcase of their jaw-dropping talent is back this year! This year’s theme is “AISC’s still got Talent!” and the array of fantastic acts that we got to see at the auditions served to underscore that in more ways than one.

This has been a long time coming, but it will be great for us to get together and celebrate our resilient community.

We look forward to seeing you at the FAC Theater at 7pm on Friday, April 8th.

We will have limited seats for parents of performers available for reservation at the event.  More information on this to come soon!
