Weekly Covid testing reminder and Lunch Order form Dec 13-17

It's the end of the week, so here is your weekly reminder to conduct the COVID-19 home antigen test. Here is the form to upload the results which should be submitted Friday, December 10. Please remember to bring the completed test strip on Monday in a bag.

Here is the lunch order form for HS students for December 13-17. It needs to be completed by Sunday at noon. Do think ahead as to whether you will be on campus for lunch each day, based on your exam schedule.

Getting Back to Full Day schedule: 8:30-3:30 in Semester 2

All sections of the school are getting back to an 8:30 am to 3:30 pm full-day schedule. For HS students, that means the staggered arrival schedule is 15 minutes earlier: from 8:00 to 8:25 am (see below). Departure remains the same. The full daily schedules for Mon/Tue/Fri, Crew Tues and Early Release Weds are here.

Changes to Module Expectations and Attendance in Semester 2

Between 90% and 94% of HS students have attended school in-person since November 1. As nearly all students are in Chennai and attending in-person, we are making adjustments to Module Expectations and Attendance policies. The changes are designed to provide students the best flexible and sustainable learning environment.

Module Expectations for Semester 2

Attendance changes for Semester 2

In Semester 2, attendance will no longer be linked to assignment completion. That is, “IE” and “AB” within modules will no longer be tracked or communicated.

Attendance will be tracked by whether or not a student is present in the class, in-person or virtually (see exceptions below). This represents a return to our attendance system prior to the pandemic.

Teachers will continue to use Schoology to mark assignments, formatives and summatives as submitted, on time and provide feedback. Teachers will continue to and inform families when summative assessments are late or not completed.

Upcoming HS Parent Coffees - HS piloting a morning and an evening coffee

The High School will be piloting offering two HS Parent Coffees in Semester 2, one from 8:45-9:45 am and one from 5:00-6:00 pm. The first parent coffees are Tuesday, January 25. The focus will be course registration for 2022-23 school year. In addition, there will be an AP/IB extension to the coffee from 9:00-9:45 am and 6:15-7:00 pm on the same day. Parents of current 8th, 9th and 10th graders are the intended audience for the AP/IB coffee extension.

Repeat Announcement: Final Exams in December: In-Person

Please find here the Semester 1 final exam schedule for December 13-17. Final Exams will be in-person next week. The exception is for students who have been and will remain virtual. If your travel plans include the need to be out of Chennai Dec 13-17, your child will need to sit for in-person final exam makeups starting January 10, 2022, when we return for Semester 2.

Repeat Announcement: AISC Libraries Earth Week Book Swap (Advance notice if you have books to donate)

During Earth Week April 18-22, 2022, the AISC libraries are excited to inaugural Book Swap! In order to make this event a success, we need your pre-owned and pre-loved books in any language, from any genre, and for any audience! For every two books you donate, you will receive one ticket for a new (to you!) book during the swap. Just please be sure that the books are in good condition.

Sincerely, Mike Malone High School Principal
