Dear Students and Parents,

Have a restful holiday and see everyone back on campus on Monday, January 13th!

Congratulations Introduction to Design Technology students for completing their authentic end-of-semester assessment! Last week they delivered their educational toys to the Hope School and were able to see the impact of their final assessment on others!

Speaking of final assessments, congratulations to all for completing their written semester exams. As always, we started each session with a mindful moment so students could begin their exams calmly and purposefully. Check out one student’s approach to exam material management!

Congratulations to our December VfL students!

Resilient students demonstrate on-going commitment to their and our learning endeavors.  These students practice persistence and patience in all situations, learning from successes and failures in the positive pursuit of their objectives, goals and dreams.  Resilient students set and adhere to their goals, seek and integrate feedback and keep their eyes on the prize in all situations, especially when they are challenging or uncomfortable.

Sessy Ashok - Sessy is maybe the most resilient individual we have ever met. It is inspiring to see her successes in her Senior Year.

Leah Tak -  Leah takes up challenges with courage, works through them patiently, with diligence and perseverance. She is always willing to try again.

Esperance de Lattre - Esperance never gives up. In part, this is because she greatly desires to internalize everything that is being brought to her. She has the most positive attitude and spirit. She works (happily) harder than most because she wants to learn, and be successful.

Moe Suzuki - Moe is resilient in her pursuit of English language. She is eager for feedback and thoughtfully plans her way toward improvement. Through her efforts and savvy use of her support network, she faces challenges with energy and focus.

Parenting Book Club Starting Soon - A Note from Mr. Holdsworth and Ms. Gold

Join us in discussing The Strength Switch: How The New Science of Strength-Based Parenting Can Help Your Child and Your Teen to Flourish by Lea Waters. The ideas in this book apply to parenting children of all ages, Elementary, Middle and High School, so this is open to all parents.

Here is a brief description from Dr Waters' website: This game-changing book shows us the extraordinary results of focusing on our children’s strengths rather than always trying to correct their weaknesses. By showing us how to flick the “strengths switch,” Lea Waters demonstrates how we can not only help our children build resilience, optimism, and achievement but we can also help inoculate them against today’s pandemic of depression and anxiety.

Dr Waters' book is available in English on amazon.in and has been translated into 8 additional languages (Korean, Japanese, French, and others)! Check here to purchase a book in your home language over the winter break. All English language levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We look forward to seeing you on Mondays on the following dates and times:
February 10th at 2:00 (Chapters 1 and 2) in the BBT
February 17th at 2:00 (Chapters 3 and 4) in the BBT
February 24th at 2:00 (Chapters, 5, 6,7) in the BBT
March 2nd at 1:00 (Chapters 8, 9, 10) in the Hall of Light (will end in time to attend the PCA meeting)

We have a limited number of spaces open for this book club as we want to ensure that we are able to make it a truly useful learning experience. Please sign up on this website if you are interested in attending.

Report Cards and Transfer Papers - Final Announcement

Please note that first-semester report cards will be issued on Friday, January 24th. Please ignore any scores or comments that appear on PowerSchool between December 16th and January 24th. Teachers will be updating their scores and writing comments throughout the break and up until January 20th. Reports will be finalized throughout that week and, then, will be made available on the 24th. Updated transcripts can also be requested at that time and mid-year university reports will be sent out for grade 12 students as well.
