Final Reminder - Upcoming Parent Coffee

The next High School Parent Coffee will take place on Tuesday, October 30th, at 8:45 am in the BBT. The focus of the coffee will be on helping students “unpack” the feedback they have received on assessments and on the recent mid-semester progress report. Parents will learn about “three types of feedback,” an approach adopted in the High School to help kids “hear” feedback. Parents will also have the chance to identify and write high leverage questions to help open up communication with their teens.

Progress Reports Going Home Today

Today, after school, each student receive a printed Progress Report to take home. The same information will be available online sometime next week. As we make custom reports it will take some time to upload them to PowerSchool accounts.

Each course has reported a current score for each achievement strand as well as an overall score for the course. Alongside this is a rating for each of the three Learning Habits.

Please do take time to review these scores alongside the accompanying comments. Should you wish to follow up with the teachers about anything in the report, please make an appointment at the upcoming Student Parent Teacher Conferences.

Student Parent Teacher Conferences

The link for signing up for conferences is now open.

As a reminder, drop in conferences will run on November 8th from 8:00 - 10:00 am in the Gym. Families need not make appointments to attend. By appointment conferences run from 10:30 am - 4:00 pm on November 8th as well as 8:00 am - 4:00 pm on November 9th. All of these conferences will take place in teachers’ classrooms.

Upcoming Coffee - A Message from the Director of Teaching & Learning

This month's Director of Teaching & Learning Tea/Coffee will focus on the AISC English as an Additional Language (EAL) Program. Dr. Sarah Sahr, EAL Program Director, will offer opportunities to dialogue about current EAL research and the instructional practices AISC teachers use to reach our incredibly diverse EAL population. Please bring your questions and comments to the Madras Hall, Thursday, 1 November, 8:45-9:45am.

Save the Date - Fall Band and Choir Concert

The High School Band and Choir will be performing on November 1st at 4:30 pm in the Theater. Join us!

Summer Programs

Please note that for the remainder of the year we will share this link to summer programs at the end the Principal’s Notes. If you have any questions about whether or not a summer program makes sense to pursue, please contact one of our counselors. Additional programs and resources will be added to this list as vendors contact us.

Sincerely,

Joelle Basnight
High School Principal
