Dear Students and Parents,
Congratulations to all of the SAISA
participants - well done!
Please join me in congratulating the
participants of the recent World Scholars Cup competition - Varun Krishna,
Amore Tripathi and Umair Nizamudeen! They have qualified for the regional round
of competition! Well done!
April is the month of Empathy. According to the
Vision of an AISC Learner in the classroom, empathetic students appreciate
their own cultures and perspectives while respecting the values and background
of others, believing each person has equal intrinsic value. Empathetic
students show a willingness to consider, include and support the values,
beliefs and point of view of others.
Empathetic students show understanding of the needs of others and
compassion by extending help to those in need and making positive contributions
to local and global communities and the environment.
Congratulations to the following students for
being recognized for their empathy!
Kaviyan D - Kaviyan is kind, compassionate and always willing to
help his peers. His interactions with peers during group work show that he is
an active listener and respects people's’ views. His contribution and work in
running a couple of service- oriented clubs speak to his empathetic nature and
dedication to help the local community.
Nina Kumar - Nina is an extremely supportive and caring student.
She is quick to put herself in other's shoes and to offer an encouraging word
or bit of advice. She is extremely helpful in and out of the classroom,
especially when a part of a team. Her empathetic personality makes a positive
impact on our school community and she is greatly appreciated for it.
Sessy Ashok - Sessy is an empathetic young woman. She has shown
compassion in the classroom, as well as in after school activities. She is
always willing to help her fellow classmates and teammates. In school she can
be seen greeting everyone with a warm smile and a hello. Her positive attitude
makes our school a better place.
Dhiti Doddamreddy - Dhiti is a caring student who thinks of other
people. During discussions she is thoughtful, looking at multiple sides of an
issue in order to come up with a decision that benefits everyone. She has been
a positive addition to our school with her compassionate and understanding
personality.
Many thanks to the Entrepreneurship
class for visiting grade 2 classrooms to share their knowledge. The ES class
was studying economics and wanted to know more about how to come up with a good
product and how to produce, market and sell it.
Parent Coffee Presentation
Many thanks to all of the parents who attended the parent
coffee this week. The counselors, Mr. Malone and I enjoyed debriefing the
Challenge Success student lifestyle survey with you! You can find the

Next Early Release Wednesday
The final early release Wednesday will be on May 9th. As
always, hot lunch will be available to students during their lunch break and
the iHub will remain open until 2:30 pm as an air conditioned space for those
students waiting for pick up.
IB and AP Exams Beginning
Please join me in wishing our IB and AP students the best
of luck as they begin their exams this Friday. Please see our study leave
policy below.
Study Leave Expectations - Repeat
Announcement
Students taking IB and AP courses are assigned study leave
to revise for their exams. This means that the two blocks before their exam and
the two blocks of their exam are excused from school. For example, if a student
has an afternoon exam on Tuesday, he/she is not expected to attend classes on
Tuesday morning. The exception to this is for students taking a Monday morning
exam as they will not be excused from Friday afternoon exams. Students can see
Ms. Sunita to get their personalized leave schedule.
Once the IB or AP exam has occurred, the course has
officially ended. As this happens, such students receive additional study leave
time. Students on study leave are able to come late to school or leave early
but may not leave and come back during the middle of the day. For example,
should a student have an AP course, which has concluded in the first block of
the day, he/she can come late to school. However, if the AP student has a class
first block, then study leave due to a completed class in the second block and
then class in the last two blocks, he/she cannot leave campus only for block
two and return.
