Congratulations to March’s
Vision honorees!
March was all about
Versatility. Versatile students adapt to changing circumstances by being
resourceful, willing and able to use multiple means of meeting a challenge. A
versatile student is willing to take risks and employ new strategies when
encountering the unexpected. A versatile student balances commitments in a wide
range of interest areas, and seeks new opportunities for learning, growth and
renewal.
E-Nynn Chew - E-Nynn been
an exceptionally versatile student in IB this year, willing to revise and
explore her thinking as well as her approach to writing. Because she willing to
review her own process, she has become an impressively creative and flexible
writer.
Serin Kim - Serin is an
amazingly versatile student. She juggles responsibilities in the classroom,
with sports, Model United Nations, music, and clubs. Serin faces challenges
head on and seeks new opportunities. She does a highly commendable job of balancing
her schoolwork and interests.
Gyanendra Sengar -
Gyanendra has shown versatility in a multitude of ways. He balances his
responsibilities in the classroom with his personal running goals, other
sports, and activities. Gyanendra seeks new opportunities and faces challenges
with resolve.
Max Jacobson - Max
has an impressive range of his abilities as demonstrated through sports,
performing arts and academics. He is juggles his many interests and talents
while remaining highly collaborative and versatile throughout!
Parent Coffee - Presentation and Q&A
Many thanks to all of the
parents who attended the March parent coffee. An additional thanks to Ms.
McGlamery, Mr. Laposky and Mr. Malone for being on hand to answer questions.

This presentation marks the final SBAR presentation of the year and walked
participants through what a Standards Based Unit may look like. The supporting

Attention Parents of the Class of 2018 - From the HS Counseling
Department:
Believe it or not,
graduation is right around the corner. As we return from spring break,
our seniors are certainly feeling a range of emotions about this transitional
time. We imagine that you have your own feelings about this transition, as it
is a big shift for your entire family. Many of you joined us earlier this
month for a dialogue with Freedom from Chemical Dependency and now we invite
you to join the HS Counselors for a parent dialogue about helping your child to
leave well, land well and stay well. This is a great opportunity to come
together to chat about this time and how you can best support your child (and
yourself!) through this milestone. Please join us on April 10 at 8:45am in BBT
for the LEAVING THE NEST (Transition Workshop). We hope to see you at this
workshop!
Field Closure and New Track and Soccer Pitch Coming Soon - A Note
from Mr. Hoover
As you all already know, in
the summer of 2018, we will begin year two of our Building Spaces 2020 Campus
Development Program. Phase One this summer’s projects will begin next week as
we start construction on our six-lane track and our main field soccer pitch.
Starting on Sunday, April 1 at 5:00 p.m., the Main Field will be separated from
the surrounding areas with a 8.5-foot wall on all sides. The area inside the
wall is for construction and facilities personnel only and is off-limits to all
community members.
We are starting
construction before the end of the school year to assure space readiness for
the start of the 2018-2019 school year. We will need your patience and
understanding in the next eight weeks.
In order to maintain a safe
environment, we need to be aware of this construction zone and treat it as an
off-limits area. All sidewalks surrounding the field will remain accessible.
The Elementary Playground will not be affected.
As the AISC Campus is not
normally under construction during the school year, we will be communicating
and instructing students to be vigilant and aware regarding safety in this area
of the campus. Security teams will be in the vicinity of the area at all
times. Faculty and staff have been asked to reinforce and model safety
practices – specifically staying away from marked areas and reporting any
questions or concerns. Parents, please support these efforts by familiarizing
yourselves with the area on your next visit to campus, and reinforcing the need
to be aware and respectful of the construction zone. Heavy machinery will be in
use only after school hours and will be confined only to the area inside the
wall.
Since the Main Field is not
accessible during April and May, we have made other arrangements for groups
that use the field regularly.
- PE classes will be using the other
spaces on campus.
- ASA soccer on Monday and Thursday
will use the rooftop courts or the Raptor Field.
- SAISA soccer is using the rooftop
courts and switching one practice to a morning practice to avoid conflict
with the ASA use.
- Track will use Raptor Field for
sprints and jumps, a circuit of the school for distance, and the fitness
room for throws conditioning.
- The Raptor Field will be available during lunchtime recess when not in use by PE classes.
We make every effort to
avoid starting construction during the school year. It is unavoidable in this
case as the new track and soccer pitch need to be completed before the possible
rains in July. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to develop our
spaces and provide the best possible facilities for our students.
Celebration of Learning - Save the Date - Repeat Announcement
Come one, come all to our
second semester Celebration of Learning! This learning fair highlights the fine
academic work done in our classrooms. Students volunteer to talk parents
through the instruction and assessment of a particular course and are on hand
to answer questions. Please join us!
Second Semester Exams - Repeat Announcement
Second semester exams for
grade 12 students will take place on May 17th and 18th. Mr. Malone will
circulate that schedule after the Spring Break.
Second semester exams for
grades 9 - 11 will take place from May 29th until June 1st. The exam schedule
can be found here. Please note that we do not give exams early for any reason and
we also cannot allow students to take or make-up exams after Saturday, June
2nd.
