Dear Students and Parents,
Please join me in congratulating this month’s Vision honorees, this time for being Explorers.
Explorers are those students who investigate new interests with curiosity, inquire with purpose and seek deeper understanding and fulfillment through their ground-breaking pursuits. Explorers ask probing, extending and open-ended questions, contribute their new ideas to discussion, and investigate and attempt new ways of extending their learning opportunities and sharing their findings.
Srivats Ramaswamy - Srivats is driven by strong interest in and great curiosity. He often arrives to class with a question or two, goes above and beyond expectations for research, and enthusiastically shares his thinking with others.
Matthieu Couto - Matthieu is unabashedly inquisitive and willing to investigate new paths. He connects curricular content to events and situations in the rest of his life. As his English has improved, so have his questions and his counterpoints have gotten deeper and more creative.
Anjan Mani - Anjan’s love of learning has led him to question the world around him and explore new and interesting studies. He is always willing to share his knowledge through discussion or individual conversation. His enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge and sharing it has been the impetus for many fruitful conversations in the classroom.
Sanjay Vijay - Sanjay is enrolled in an online Film course through GOA. He is consistently excited and engaged with all that this course offers him. His filming and film editing techniques have developed as a result of his consistent efforts to use feedback from his teachers and peers. Additionally, his participation and work pushes the thinking of his classmates.

Congratulations THIMUN delegates and chairs! 44 AISC students have been selected to represent our school at two international THIMUN conferences: The Hague and Qatar. Additionally, Seojin Park and Minha Park have been appointed committee chairs in The Hague while Prahalad Giridhar, Vinay Sriram, Serin Kim and Manav Chakravarthy have been appointed committee chairs in Qatar. Way to go MUN participants!
The Madras Cafe is the primary social space for adults on campus. The I-Hub is a space for students in grades 6-12. The ES Cafeteria is often open and available for parent socializing in the mornings and afternoons once children have finished gathering for ASAs. We ask that parents please not congregate in the I-Hub. Your support and understanding are appreciated.

Optional Standards Based Assessment and Reporting Parent Presentation - DATE CHANGE
In order to accommodate a student presentation on the same topic in Freshmen Seminar classes, the date of the parent presentation will shift to Wednesday, December 13th instead of Tuesday, December 12th. The coffee will take place in the BBT from 8:45 - 10:00 am the High School administration will present the first informational session in a series of four regarding the High School’s move to Standards Based Reporting in 2018/19. This session will share an overview of the changes to be expected and the rationale for the shift. Additional sessions will be offered in the next semester to share, in more detail, about each aspect associated with the shift.
Upcoming Semester Exams - Reminders - Repeat Announcement
Believe it or not, the semester is quickly coming to a close. Please note that exam revision will begin on Monday, December 11th. During this week there will be no new material presented in class and no summative assessments. Students should use this time to complete their alternative final assessments and review for their written examinations.
We will host our farewell assembly the morning of Friday, December 15th and this will be followed by a quiet revision period for all students. That afternoon we will run one session of written exams.
During the week of December 18th students need only be on campus during their exams. We will allow all students to come and go from campus unless individual parents indicate otherwise about their children. Students who choose to remain on campus to study must be respectful of the revision needs of others. The library is reserved for silent study. The iHub and HS Commons is reserved for quiet group revision and break time socializing. Students who are disruptive to others or found not to be using their revision time wisely will have their parents notified and will be asked to leave campus.
Next Early Release Wednesday
A quick reminder that Wednesday, December 13th, will be our next Early Release Wednesday. Students are expected to depart campus in a timely and organized fashion upon dismissal at 2:00 pm. We appreciate your patience with traffic on these days as all three sections are picking up students at the same time. In preparation, please plan on allowing longer time for entry and exit to the school at release time. For our Middle and High School students, hot lunch will be served.
At the request of the student advisory forum, the iHub will remain open until 2:30 pm as an air conditioned place for high school students to wait for drivers. Please note that food service will continue to close at 2:10 pm.
