Dear Parents,
Happy New Year!
Welcome back to the second half of the school year. I hope you all had a chance
to relax and enjoy time with your families. The pace of studies and other
activities at AISC, like most international schools, can be intense. These
breaks are important opportunities for rest and renewal.
I have had a
very engaging and exciting week at the teacher recruitment fairs in Bangkok. I
have had the opportunity to talk with passionate and experienced educators from
around the world, many of whom are eager to join our community. It is a
wonderful learning opportunity for me as I talk with these teachers about
current best practices in their fields and how they bring their love of
learning to their students. Thus far we have been very successful in recruiting
some excellent new faculty members and I am looking forward to having them join
our team.
We are at the
beginning of an important time in the lives of our 11th and 12th
grade students. Most of our Seniors will soon begin preparing for the IB and AP
exams at the end of the semester. They will also be preparing for one of the
major transitions in their lives as they move into independent adulthood. It is
a time filled with excitement and anxiety. Our Juniors will be starting the
process of searching for the right college or university. For them, the
excitement is just beginning. There will be much for them to learn and to
reflect on as they search for the best match.
No School on Monday - Just a reminder that the Pongal holiday has been moved from Tuesday to Monday.
Jan Jamboree is coming! As one of its community building projects, the High School Student Council, with support from high school clubs, is organizing the Jan Jamboree on Saturday, January 19 from 2 to 5 pm on the AISCH Field. This event is open to AISCH families and guests.
There will be an entry fee of Rs 200 for elementary and middle school students. This will allow them unlimited access to over 20 games and activities organized by the high school students, including cookie decorating, obstacle course, face painting, sponge throw, slime booth, Wii tennis, beat the keeper, T1 car racing, bouncy castle, balance beam pillow fight, nail salon and more!
Adults and HS students will be able to enjoy the food and drinks on sale, shop at the NGO counters, take a chance on winning exciting prizes in the raffle and spend a fun afternoon with family and friends. There is no entry fee for adults and high school students.
Funds raised through this event will be used to support a variety of community service clubs and projects. We truly hope you and your family will be able to join us for this fun-filled event.
Parent Curriculum Coffee on Tuesday,
January 22nd - Please note that this month's
Parent Curriculum Coffee will be for parents of High School students.
We will be discussing curriculum topics that are specific to our High
School program. The coffee will be held from 8:45 - 9:45 and from 2:15 -
3:15 in the Hall of Light. Parents are welcome to attend either session.
P.E. Survey - STUDENT
FEEDBACK WANTED! As a part of our continuous improvement efforts and the
CIS Accreditation Self-Study process, our P.E. department has set a goal of
evaluating the PE program at AISC. One method they are using to collect
data for this evaluation is a STUDENT survey. Students - please take a
few minutes to complete the following survey

Extended hours for the
High School Library - Starting on Monday, January 7, our first day back from
vacation, hours for the high school library will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
We will be monitoring the use during the extended hours. Based on how heavily
the library is used during this time, the hours may be extended to 6:00 p.m. later
in the school year.

and AP updates - Be sure to check the sidebar for news about
our IB and AP Programs. Mr.
Robertson-Jones has provided some valuable information this week about an
exciting opportunity for our students to participate in an IB Global Leadership
Forum.
The beginning of
a new year is always a time of hope. I am sure I speak for the high school
faculty when I wish you the best for the coming year. I look forward to the
opportunity to work with all of you to make these years of your child’s life as
enjoyable and fulfilling as they can be.
